Philadelphia’s mayor called President Trump a “fragile egomaniac,” and accused him of not being a “true patriot.” Mayor Jim Kenney released the following statement in response to Trump’s decision:
The Eagles call the birthplace of our democracy home, so it’s no surprise that this team embodies everything that makes our country and our city great. Their athletic accomplishments on the field led to an historic victory this year. Fans all across the country rallied behind them because we like to root for the underdog and we feel joy when we see the underdogs finally win. I’m equally proud of the Eagles’ activism off the field. These are players who stand up for the causes they believe in and who contribute in meaningful ways to their community. They represent the diversity of our nation—a nation in which we are free to express our opinions.
Disinviting them from the White House only proves that our President is not a true patriot, but a fragile egomaniac obsessed with crowd size and afraid of the embarrassment of throwing a party to which no one wants to attend.
City Hall is always open for a celebration.
While some have pointed out that no Eagles players actually knelt for the anthem this year, that fact obscures larger issues. According to NFL Network reporter Mike Garafolo, the Eagles were going to send a contingent of less than ten players to the White House:

Trump warned the NFL owners directly: the kneeling issue is highly negative for Americans, and politically its a winner for him every time.
And the NFL keeps stepping up to get b**ch-slapped by Trump. Its too funny, really.
Can someone please post the mailing address of the Eagles? I would like to send them some bulletin board material, and would encourage millions of others to do likewise. Something on the order of you Eagles and the entire NFL can kiss my arse.
I did see a President who walked up a line of police officers to shake their hands. A president who honored veterans and active military and stood up for them. A President that lifted the moral of our troops and gave them Mattis and the money to fight enemies of freedom and does not interfere them doing their duty like the previous one did.
Then I see a bunch of rich guys who snub the anthem and hate the police.

The Eagles’ fans are beholden to their idols. Anything that we allow to take precedence over God in our lives becomes our idol. Sunday is for football. God deserves no reverence and the state of our culture shows it.
One of the reasons that it took until the 70s for the NFL to become as big as it was, was that they did play their games on Sunday, and many objected to that.
Even baseball at the turn of the century grappled with the issue of playing games on Sunday.

The mayor’s statement ACTUALLY applies to the players refusing to stand. All Trump did was refuse to accept their childish nonsense like any good parent would.

All the Eagles players said they were not going. All Trump did was co-opt them, since nobody was going to the White House anyway.

To give you an idea of just how bad it is I recently told the Browns to take their Season Tickets I've bought since the late 80s and shove them. Now some of you may chuckle because it is the browns BUT these seats are in the Dawg Pound (endzone) row two on the Browns side of the field. we have many pics over the years of my family slapping high fives with the players because they always run up to that spot and do so. 4 seats in the Pound and we would legally sell them many times on the NFL's resale sight many times for over double what we paid usualy 3 times the value or more.
But over the years I had grown tired of the BS in the legue. Players breaking the law some getting away with murder and rape etc. So each year we would talk about getting rid of the tickets but then we realized we were making a profit. I watched football less and less and then the kneeling crap came about. The tickets all of the sudden were hard to sell. in fact two sets went unsold last year AFTER the NFL dropped the minimum you could sell them for to 10 bucks. (Before you had to sell them for face value. at least)
We decided to stop messing with them and notified the Browns Ticket office we would not being renewing and please send us our cash from the previous years sales. (you could let the money ride in your account from sany sales and use it to buy the next years tickets) The guy on the phone said someone would call and set up the refund.
we got the call and long story short this guy wanted to know why, said he was tasked with finding out why so many long time season ticket holders were no longer buying tickets. So I told him how the legue allowed players to repeatedly get away with murder (Browns DOnte Stalworth DUI, killed a man got 30 days in jail. Ray lewis etc. Ben Roethlisberger got away with rape. Jim Brown and many other players are wife beaters yet they get to play still or in Brown's Case he is hired as a spokeman for the Browns and the NFL) I told him all this and told him the kneeling was the final straw. They guy begged me to not turn my tickets back in then asked me if anyone aroun would be interested in them.
Now here is the interesting part... months later the NFL makes the announcement about not allowing kneeling and I got a call within 60 minutes of it hitting Facebook from the same guy begging me not to turn in my tickets. He wants to know if I want my same tickets back. I asked him why he had not sold them and he claimed the front office told them to hold all non-renewed season tickets and give people anothe chance. I laughed and called BULLSHIT. ANd he didn't argue. Bottom line the Browns could not sell season tickets in the pound row two. in those many weeks since I notified them I was not renewing.
The NFL is in trouble, Ive read that tickets sales are down over 30% across the league. AI say they can all kiss my ass! I am done with sports especially the NFL.
I hope you were being sarcastic. At any rate, what Trump did will endear him to patriots. All others can F-— off as far as I’m concerned.
