Another rioting case ends in acquittal as Trump inauguration trials falter
Washington Examiner ^ | June 4, 2018

A jury acquitted accused Trump inauguration rioter Casey Webber on all charges Monday, dealing another blow to federal prosecutors struggling to convict participants of a window-smashing anti-capitalism march.

Webber was accused of knowing about plans for mayhem before joining the march on Jan. 20, 2017, but prosecutors offered no evidence that he personally destroyed property. The chaotic march ended in heavy use of pepper spray and batons by police, who mass-arrested more than 230 people.

...

One officer who testified at the trial roamed the D.C. courthouse last week, wearing a T-shirt that read, “Police Brutality… or doing what their parents should have?” said attorney Matthew Rist, who is representing Felice.

Well if they can’t be convicted, they’ll need some additional education at the time they’re caught.....

Why not?

In his joy over this “verdict”, Webber should have stood up and started smashing the windows at the courthouse. Maybe even punch a few of the “jurors” in the face. Our “courts” are a joke. Our “juries” are an even bigger joke.

Keep this in mind when you protest socialism.

This is what we can expect if/when any trials occur of the Big Fish in the swamp. D C juries are a farce but with Jeff at the helm (in name only) I don’t expect anything.

Obama holdover prosecutors. Under the helm of heroic napping Sessions. They are assigned to fail the President as much as possible (remember when the DOJ prosecutor botched miserably the travel ban case?).
Sessions has proven time and time again to be worse than useless.

“but prosecutors offered no evidence that he personally destroyed property.”

It's not the courts or the juries, it's the prosecutors that are the joke.

If this guy didn't participate in the destruction, what were they charging him for?

If attending a protest march is a crime just because you know someone might cause mayhem, then right of assembly is dead, and we should notify all assemblies of the democratic party that someone might cause mayhem there, forcing them all to stay home.

The guy may be despicable for protesting a fair election, and inparticular Trump who already has demonstrated extraordinary skill as Potus. But he still has rights. And prosecutors didn't apparently have anything on him, except attendance....or failed to use what they had.

This is DC. A city which gave Donald Trump only 4% of the vote in 2016, If they could have voted for the death penalty to the Trump supporters who were beaten up, they would have.

Antifas are only willing to fight in jurisdictions where the Democrats control the police and the courts.

These decisions don’t reveal as much about the case as it does about the DC jury pool.

I guess I know where I’m going to express my “disapproval” should a democrat ever win another presidential election.

Police & leftist courts are not the solution...National Guard contingents have a much superior record for riot suppression...

Sadly I agree with you. Why no evidence of the crime he is charged with? Sad very sad.

If the article is to be believed, ANY jury pool would have had to acquit because the prosecutors offered no evidence except attendance at the protest march.

Again: ANYTHING "they" say or do MUST be accepted and tolerated. NOTHING conservatives say or do is acceptable or tolerated. Now that's fair in their feeble little pea brains. ⚖. 🐂💨💩

Yep. I suspect their claim he was aiding and abetting by being there, yelling, holding a sign etc. That’s not a case.

I pretty much agree with that.

One avenue to help bolster their case would have been to reference any online statements he had made related to “tearing the place up” or some such.

IMO, part of this process was just giving those who attended and were likely involved in the riot, was to give them so much grief they’d think twice of doing it again.

I doubt many of those who showed up in that group, were fully innocent.

If I’m around when my side starts getting violent, I’ll leave. I don’t believe in rioting or destroying businesses, and you won’t catch me in a group doing that sort of thing.
