Nathan Larson, a 37-year-old accountant from Charlottesville, Virginia, is running for Congress as an independent candidate in his native state. He is also a pedophile, as he admitted to HuffPost on Thursday, who has bragged in website posts about raping his late ex-wife.

That depends entirely on who the predominant party in a particular state is: In blue states, calling yourself an independent is done to hide you’re a republican, and in red states its probably the inverse though I’ve never lived in a red state. In Bernies case... he really is a socialist and therefore neither a republican or democrat.
Would be in the headline and first sentence repeated four times if he was a Reoublican.
