(Reuters) - Justify won the 144th running of the Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs in Louisville on Saturday, becoming the first horse since Apollo in 1882 to win the Run for the Roses without a start as a two-year-old.

May rain for this 2nd leg of triple crown
Rained on Derby Day, too. Track was sloppy.

Three horse exacta box... Justify, Lone Sailor,Tenfold.....
The Derby was beyond sloppy.
Justify looked like a king walking among peasants in the minutes before the Derby. I wouldnt bet against him in a short race like the Preakness.
...big horse...
Sloppy track favors early speed, primarily because most late runners don’t respond well to slop being kicked up in their faces. Justify didn’t have a drop of slop on him following his very impressive Derby victory. Only problem is, did he go too fast early on. Fractional times were blazingly fast. Still he finished strongly. But that gutsy effort may have taken something out of him for this race. We shall see.
Will Freakazoid Johnny Queer be there in all his homo glory? Since the powers that be has turned the triple crown into a celebration of perversion, I guess I’ll have to skip it.

...
And only 8 horses, not a stampede like the Derby.
I’m rooting for Justify because I like his jockey Mike Smith.
And Justify was clean as a whistle. A perfect ride from Smith.
At a mile and 3/16 the Preakness is longer than 99% of the races run in North America.

Diamond King - prophetic name for the Royal Wedding Day!!!
Great Odds - I’m going for it - if I can find a betting agent;)
No shortage of horses' asses on display.
Analysis from TwinSpires.com...
“Justify looms as a towering presence.
After generating a whopping 114 dominating the Santa Anita Derby, his Speed rating tumbled 12 points in the Kentucky Derby (102 Speed) but its still faster than any number generated by rivals in the last three starts.
Expected wet conditions wont be an issue for Justify. He captured the Kentucky Derby in the slop and registered a 104 BRIS Speed rating winning an allowance on a muddy track at Santa Anita.
Lone Sailor is the only other runner with a triple-digit figure from the last three outings, receiving a 100 for a close second in the Louisiana Derby.
The Tom Amoss-trained late runner brought improving form into the Kentucky Derby but was repeatedly stopped and forced to regain his momentum recording a severely-troubled eighth. Irad Ortiz Jr. will pick up the mount for the Preakness.
Good Magic has not run back to the 105 he earned posting an upset win in the Breeders Cup Juvenile at Del Mar.
The Kentucky Derby runner-up will be the clear second choice in the wagering, but Good Magics Speed ratings are far from overwhelming.”

My clear longshot pick is Lone Sailor. Definitely must add to Exactas and triples.
