Wow, that car is going to fetch some big numbers! And Starr has always been a fan favorite. He is such a great guy.
I still have my 1966 World Champion team picture, autographed by many of the players.
Sweet ride but I have always hated those stock rims/wheel covers and red line sidewalls on the ‘Vettes of that era. So damned ugly.
I always liked that body style. It still looks good today!
I love that color. I stopped at the National Corvette Museum two weeks ago, fun place. They have an exhibit on the sinkhole that occurred in 2014.
Get rid of those ugly red walled tires and it’d be a cool car.
PFL
Needs a couple cheese dice hanging from the rearview mirror.
Starr was my ‘first’ Quarterback Crush as a young girl. I grew up in Milwaukee and our family lived, breathed, ate, slept and LIVED for Green Bay Packer Football. Grandma lived not too far from Brown County Stadium (now Miller Park) and Dad worked at the VA Hospital near there and we would sometimes get to go to the games as chaperones for the disabled Vets that lived at the VA.
The Packers used to alternate playing between Milwaukee and Green Bay back then.
Good Times.
Too bad the NFL has now ruined it. Jerks.
Back in time when real American men played the game. Thugs were not permitted or wanted.
Bart was one of the truly great ones both on and off the field.
He still holds the record for highest QB rating for post season play.
I believe the car was awarded by now-defunct “Sport” magazine, not by the NFL. They gave a similar award to the star of the World Series.
It looks like it could be the bullpen car for the Oakland A’s.
Cant have a Bart Starr thread without a Roll Tide in it.
I graduated high school in 1967 and have been in love the C-2 body style (1963-1967) ever since. Never could afford it but would still love to have one. This one is a survivor which makes it even more desirable. The only downer is that it’s not a 427-435 horse with “lake pipes”. The Starr provenance will definitely offset a large part of that drawback. I hope they auction it at Barrett-Jackson. I know I’d love to have it! One can dream, no?
Starr went to Sidney Lanier High School in Montgomery. He wanted to go to Kentucky to play for Bear Bryant but chose Alabama to be near his girlfriend and future wife, Cherry.
Interesting history. Not pristine, some serious road rash on her.
Nice car, but I have one in storage after I rebuilt it.
