The North Korean state media made a historic announcement Friday evening that Kim Jong-un and the Democratic People's Republic of North Korea would be suspending its nuclear missile and long range missile testing. In addition they will also be closing down their nuclear test site. The announcement comes ahead of President Trump's meeting with Kim Jong-un, a potbellied dictator he once nicknamed "Rocketman," in May. By all accounts, President Trump has been the driving force behind North Korea's sudden change in their willingness to stop their nuclear weapon program.
Now, Rep. Luke Messer (R-IL) is calling for President Trump to be awarded the Nobel Peace prize if North Korea decides to disarm all together.
If North Korea disarms, President Trump deserves the Nobel Peace Prize, Messer said in a statement released Saturday morning.
President Trumps peace through strength strategy is making America safer and delivering results. This is more progress in North Korea than we saw during the entire Obama administration, and its a direct result of President Trumps strong leadership on the world stage, he added.
In 2009, President Obama won the Nobel Peace prize for his "extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples."
Evidence abounds that adulation for President Obama was premature. But, over on Sky News, Cordelia Lynch is asking if North Korea is a "a chance for Trump to become one of history's 'great men'?"
From Sky News:"Each administration has tried to get to this place and North Korea has reneged.
Has Mr Trump managed to achieve what his predecessors couldn't and in the process, secure a unlikely place in the diplomatic hall of fame? It is too early to tell of course.
But, the fact his top spymaster, Mike Pompeo, secretly managed to meet face-to-face with Mr Kim does seem to have helped pave the way for something potentially monumental.
It seems Nigel Farage, the Brexit leader, would agree with Rep. Messer and Lynch's recognition of this historic occasion.
"Those who disagree with me, Im going to really upset you now. A few years ago President Obama, he was not even 10-months into the presidency and guess what? He got the Nobel Peace Prize for what he might do, Farage told LBC.
Im going to suggest now that what needs to happen is that President Trump needs to be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for managing to get talks going with North Korea. I think its fantastic, and Ive been looking today at some of the rules and as an MEP I am able to nominate people for the Nobel Peace Prize," he added. And Ill be trying to get a petition of MEPs who support this idea."
A lot can change between now and the United States meeting with North Korea in May, but there is plenty to be cautiously optimistic about for President Trump.
Every day that Trump has the left eating antacids like there’s no tomorrow (and truly believing that there IS no tomorrow) is another winner for Trump!
Somehow, the media will give Obutthole the credit for Peace in Korea.
Bank on it!
It was meant as a general response to many of the FReepers. I just addressed it to you as you’re the original poster.
They’ll give it to Kim Dumb Bong instead just to spite the President. Or Pompeo.
No, but it will be another Nobel for Zero!
Never gonna happen.
He is a very Masculine leader who stands up to both parties and espouses Christian ideas, and isn’t in the job for the money! There may not be a prize for that on this world, but he will get his reward some day!
(Perhaps I can copywrite that phrase in case some similar 'bravo sierra' is used by the Nobel Committee, the NY Slimes or the WaPoo.)
Agreed. By awarding it to Obama before he even tried to do anything, the committee turned it into a “participation award”
If Trump negotiated Middle East peace, an agreement between India and Pakistan about Kashmir, an end to the conflict in Syria, and love between lions and antelopes, they still wouldn’t give him the Peace Prize.
Thanks Kaslin. The NPP committee devalued and marginalized the prize by just handing it out to Gore and Zero, neither of whom had or subsequently has done anything to warrant it. The committee needs to rescind those two awards just to try to redeem itself.

Exactly my first thought.
But...
As I wrote to another poster who used this quote, anyone who believes this doesn't understand Trump. He has some great strengths, but humility is not one of them. He is a once in a lifetime figure who has the potential to change the world (for the better) in ways that will effect many generations, but he will demand recognition for doing so and he will do it loudly and repeatedly. It's an integral part of his character.
If progress continues, and North and South Korea declare an official end to their war, and North Korea gives up their nuclear programs, there will most definitely be a Nobel Peace prize. It will go to Kim Jong-Un and Moon Jae-in. They will be lauded as heroes, not Trump. And it will be Xi Jinping who played the key role as facilitator. No way Trump gets credit or is in any way portrayed as a peacemaker and statesman; it will have happened despite him. The left will do their best to ensure history books describe Trump as a cross between Hitler and Forrest Gump who rode the coattails of The Great Obama to peace and prosperity...
On the other hand, this whole peace deal feels like a Lucy-Football moment. I hope it is not.
assuming anything good even happens with the norks, the Swedish would rather give it to rocket boy, or even burn it, rather than give it to trump ...
Nobel for Trump? Snort. Not as long as Hogg is alive. C’mon, this is the Nobel committee we’re talking about. Think Arafat, Gore, obama...
Process of Nomination and Selection
September Invitation letters are sent out. The Nobel Committee sends out invitation letters to individuals qualified to nominate members of national assemblies, governments, and international courts of law; university chancellors, professors of social science, history, philosophy, law and theology; leaders of peace research institutes and institutes of foreign affairs; previous Nobel Peace Prize Laureates; board members of organizations that have received the Nobel Peace Prize; present and past members of the Norwegian Nobel Committee; and former advisers of the Norwegian Nobel Institute.

A Nobel is unimportant, but if Trump succeeds in his program of restoring the American Republic I’ll have no problem contributing funds to add him to Mt. Rushmore.
Those idiots gave the Nobel to al gore when they could have given it to Irena Sendler instead.
This incredible woman risked her life to rescue 2500 babies from the Nazis. She was eventually captured and tortured, never again to walk without excruciating pain.
At the end of her precious life, she finally received some recognition but the Nobel slobs decided the climate change fraud was far more important than Sendlers heroics, bringing enormous disgrace upon themselves.
I would love to see President Trump win it, just as a giant eff you to his detractors.
Better if he sends a fake American Indian girl.
