Subtitle: Covering Hillary Clintons campaign from before it started to the very last moment.
Things were already looking bad when Chelsea Clinton popped the Champagne. It was just after 9 p.m. on election night and she was having her hair and makeup done in the familys suite at the Peninsula hotel. She stopped to pour what somebody told me was Veuve Clicquot into everyones glasses, figuring that in a couple of hours Donald Trumps run of early victories in red states (West Virginia, Oklahoma, Alabama) would end and the map would turn back in her moms favor.
Three hours later, the Rust Belt was awash in red, and somebody had to tell Hillary Clinton.
Robby Mook, the drained and deflated campaign manager, told his boss she was going to lose. She didnt seem all that surprised.
I knew it. I knew this would happen to me, she said, now within a couple of inches of Mr. Mooks ashen face. They were never going to let me be president.
In July 2013, Jill Abramson, the former executive editor of The New York Times, put me on the Hillary beat ahead of the 2016 election. It was 649 days before Mrs. Clinton would announce she was running for president again, 1,226 days before she would lose to Mr. Trump.
Every major life decision in my 20s and 30s when to get married, where to buy an apartment, whether to freeze my eggs until after the election had revolved around a single looming question: What about Hillary Clinton?

“its far more likely that no one was able to stop the screaming and flailing”
I believe that’s the truth of it. She had to be sedated, I’m sure.
Even the author recognized that Hillary would lose. She writes about lack of energy and weak response to her campaign as close as a month before the election. This was the portent of doom. And yet, the author admits her suspicions and then spends the rest of her article explaining why Hillary was “denied” her rightful place in American history.
LOL! My husband was shooting fireworks off at midnight when it finally was apparent Trump was going to win! He never does stuff like that but it was a special occasion.
She’s probably drunk and throwing Ash trays today seeing the praise they’re giving Barbara Bush. She KNOWS she’ll never get that kind of send off.
I’d like to see her corpse put on a small boat with Huma accompanying her as the burning boat is pushed out to sea.
EVERY day when I awaken I think “That criminal wretch will NEVER be President”. I smile and go on with a GREAT day! Hahahaha. What an absolutely rejected piece of subhuman trash.
One more lame excuse, Madam Hillary Bneghazi. The truth is that The American People are apparently smarter and more honest than the crooked Justice Department and the FBI, and they had absolutely no stomach for another lying, crooked, criminal socialist dem named clinton in The White House.
And Hillary is still not President. Thats a good thing. We should all be very thankful.
Oh Boo Hoo, gag me! Just go away Hillary Permanent Victim Clintoon! To Jail that is....our better yet, the noose.
Obama and the DNC promised her the presidemtcy in return for her being SOS and supporting him.
Even the comments section at the Times article is running against her. The consensus is “Hilary was a lousy candidate: get over it!”
They haven’t slept together in decades.
Awwwww, the poor hysterical angry ugly-a$$ cuckhold hag is whining! Listen, you biytch, you’re finished. Shut up!
I have three comments on the NYT thread.
What is most astonishing is the number of people who repeat the lie about her “qualifications”. Thinking that this sick old drunk who married a future POTUS and won a solidly Democrat Senate seat (and then crapped out on her promise to serve out her term) was “the most qualified person ever” to run for President is a manifestation of a serious, serious mental illness in a huge segment of our population.
Not only are they still wringing their hands, they’re holding their breath til blue, stamping their feet, and throwing themselves on the ground kicking and screaming, just like unruly 3 year olds. It’s been FIFTEEN MONTHS! You would think they would have grown up a little by now.
They are lunatics. The idea of them “growing-up” does not apply to them.
Yeah, but it’s a rather sick feeling that realizes we were within a leaner or two of losing such a critical election.
“let”?
This is America...we don’t ‘let’ people get into the WH... We ELECT them!
My mistake. “:^)
Well, in my opion, she deserves it.
