WASHINGTON -- President Trump responded Sunday to reports of a suspected chemical attack in the Syrian city of Douma, blaming Syrian President Bashar Assad and his international allies for the apparent attack that left dozens dead and hundreds injured. In some of his most critical comments directed at Russian President Vladimir Putin to date, Mr. Trump threatened that there's a "big price ... to pay" for those backing the Assad regime.
Syrian opposition activists and rescuers said Sunday that a poison gas attack on the rebel-held town of Douma near the capital of Damascus killed at least 40 people. The alleged attack has been denied by the Syrian and Russian governments. Russia is Syria's closest ally and has a major military presence in the country.
Reports of the latest attack which appeared to target civilians and young children could not be independently verified.

The bottom line is that a lot of people here simply enjoy watching the US conduct military action. They cheer for every single one and really don’t need to worry much about the reason.
It’s a measure of how degenerate we have become.
One might accurately call it the circus side of “bread and circuses”.
Last time I checked, Syria is not the US, Syria is not an ally of the US, and we do not have treat obligations to protect Syria or anyone in Syria.
Let the EU defend it’s pipeline route to Europe for the Saudi’s if it is so damn important. Clear out and stay out of that Islamic hell-hole.
This is not the Trump I voted for.
Agreed. I would rather let the mid east sort itself out. It’s been cruel and inhuman in it’s convulsions for centuries and there’s not a damn thing the US can do to alter that dynamic other than a momentary band aid after which it’s wash, rinse and repeat time again.........................forever! Will we ever learn?!
If we’re going to SEND IN the marines, send a battalion along with US Marshalls so that they can back up the marshals at FBI HG. There, upon arrival, they should start walking down halls and kicking down doors until the Congressional subpoena’s are complied with 110%. Any FBI agent resisting should simply be shot dead on site (that’s what Marines do). That message needs to be sent loud and clear. Namely, The People (through their Congress) are in CONTROL not a handful of Hillary’s Lefty agents aka The Deep State.
My new desktop background, thanks.
What a stupid analogy. The unelected queen is a figurehead, has no political power. Your hero the unelected Ruler of Saudi has total power, with no checks and balances. I suppose you like the fact Saudis arrest anyone carrying a New Testament. And most of 911 killers were Saudis
It was pathetic to see so many Freepers defending that retarded baboon George W. Bush even after 2005 when the new Iraqi government adopted a constitution in which Islam was enshrined as the official state religion.
Give it 48 hours, and it will be a dozen cases of food poisoning at a Taco Bell in Damascus.
Hey there John Bolton! Welcome to the new job

At this point, it's hard to believe anyone without irrefutable documentation - and even then you need to triple check the 'irrefutable documentation' and delve into the motivations of those who supplied it. I was just sitting here wondering how many sons and daughters of 'believing' patriots have died fighting wars they were manipulated to believe in.

Me, either. I grow more disappointed over the illegal military invasion of Syria each day. Guess the US military base being built near the Deir Ezzor oilfields is a big go.
I can think of one huge one in 1993. You may not think it was that big a deal, but the only difference between it and the one in 2001 was that the latter case was a success.
But I'm ok with the idea of killing all the ISIS folks and then doing a crime scene analysis.
Before we insist the Syrians back down, maybe we can insist the British let the world (including the Russians) see the evidence about the poison that was either sprayed on a park bench, put through a car's ventilation system or painted on a door handle. They don't know how it was done, but are very sure that the Russians were the incompetents who failed to kill the target but did manage to implicate themselves.
The Skripal poisoning is a police crime scene, and they botched it. It's a fool's errand to think they would do any better in a war zone, or to think they wouldn't choose their result for a political reason instead of a just one.
Once the culprits are clear? What is clear is that it is the ISIS folks who have so little regard for the lives of Syrian civilians. And the US diplomatic corps, after all it was Madeleine Albright who thought 500,000 dead Iraqi children was a fair price for ousting Saddam.
Behold, Damascus is taken away from being a city, and it shall be a ruinous heap.
Isaiah 17:1
...and then ISIS and their ilk fill the vacuum.
Great idea...
Yep. Same as it ever was. Here's a painting of some picnickers enjoying the First Battle of Bull Run. I wonder how many of them had relatives killed later in the war.
Regarding ISIS, since we have control of the air, drones 24x7, etc., why are their repeated pictures of ISIS parading around with their flags. Seems like when an animal pops its head up, once we see that flag, a few missiles should rain down. It might be a bit of wack-a-mole but how about a little open season on Islamic terrorists?
The proof is in the pudding and I ain’t buying the pudding
ISIS/Daesh/al-Nusra/etc. tend not to wear military uniforms, and they also love to mix in with the civilian population so as to ensure as much collateral damage as possible—and consequent local and international condemnation—when they are attacked...
