WASHINGTON -- President Trump responded Sunday to reports of a suspected chemical attack in the Syrian city of Douma, blaming Syrian President Bashar Assad and his international allies for the apparent attack that left dozens dead and hundreds injured. In some of his most critical comments directed at Russian President Vladimir Putin to date, Mr. Trump threatened that there's a "big price ... to pay" for those backing the Assad regime.

Syrian opposition activists and rescuers said Sunday that a poison gas attack on the rebel-held town of Douma near the capital of Damascus killed at least 40 people. The alleged attack has been denied by the Syrian and Russian governments. Russia is Syria's closest ally and has a major military presence in the country.

Reports of the latest attack which appeared to target civilians and young children could not be independently verified.

Yes, the Saudis are not our friends. How we untangle ourselves from them is an ongoing challenge since government and business do not share that conclusion.

Unfortunately Trump did the SAME thing as Theresa May
Jumped with the emo belligerent rhetoric before any obvious serious imvestigation could have occurred
Which tells me it won’t

Damn the facts anyway the greater good is to attack Putin ( via Syria) and then...

Well no one exactly is coming up with part B yet
Someone assured Trump not to worry, he has a bigger button

Read “ oposition activists and rescuers” as Al Qaeda and its Western supported PR team known as the ‘ White Helmets’

Watch the term “ opposition activists” as a marker for these sources
Now that the term “ moderate rebels” has been debunked

I’m surprised that so many still fall for their staged propaganda and manipulations — even many here on FR.

that makes a lot of sense a few days after saying we’re pulling out soon...which is it? the neocons are pushing his buttons. return to default position of pulling out soon please. And while we’re at it no more weapons amd funding for the terrorist rebels. We need to leave the Obama/Clinton/Bush/CIA policies in the dust bin of history.
yeah right, I get it, putin murders russians in England with nerve agents the night before his reelection and Assad gasses his own people whenever he is near vistory.

“Trump promised to create and defend safe havens in Syria for them.”

No such promise was made. It was a proffer in campaign.

Our SOLE interest in Syria is stability and, perhaps, a secular government.

That is best served by helping Assad gain control over the entire territory.

Trump: you’re being setup; follow your instincts and campaign promises and get the hell out of Syria now that you’ve destroyed ISIS like you promised.

Btw the city is open
With the evacuation of Jaish I Islam/ Al Qaeda from Douma, the Battle of Ghouta is won

and except for scattered fire the guns are silent and the mortars are not falling on Damascus - for now

I'm sure the Russians and Syrians would be happy to give tours especially of the " opposition activist" chemical weapons and labs they seized ... CNN was already on the scene... just havent published anything ... surprise

But now we are going to go attack the " animal" Syrians who defeated the terrorists. Freed over 130,000 civilians from terrorist control, negotiated with their enemy and humanely evacuated thousands of them to north with their families

Cruise missiles for peace

It put terrorism sponsors on notice that the U.S. would come after them personally. I think we're still reaping the benefits.

Huh?

The biggest sponsors of radical Islamic terrorism remain unscathed in Saudi Arabia and Pakistan.

Meanwhile, the U.S. uses its military might against secular dictators who represent no threat to us at all.

I'm not surprised. Here on FR they tend to slink away when the facts or the political winds turn against them, then come back when the opportunity arises for them to demonstrate their globalist "neo-con" creds.

“Needs to give Putin 1 hour notice to clear his troops from Syrian bases and fortifications, then simply order a massive wave of airstrikes, cruise missiles, to hit any and all military bases, fortifications, and anything military in that country. Should level the “palace” or whereever Animal Assad is. Declare open hunting season and not stop until they surrender.”

When, exactly, did Congress declare War on Syria or Russia?

I've long since maintained that on Sept 12 2001, we should have blown the Sows off the map. No troops, no UN, just no more Sowdie cities.

And when we discovered the Pakirs were harboring OBL....the same to them.

Then there's Iran.

(there's still time for that)

What vital US interest is Assad hindering? Is he promoting terrorism in the US? If not, then we should stay out.
