A Columbia University student publicly complained about her professor using the word "Negro," even though he said it in a lesson about 1960s America.
The Columbia Daily Spector ran a story Thursday about what happens "when professors make racially insensitive remarks." The paper cited a complaint by student Maria Fernanda Martinez of a perceived "microagression." Martinez said her professor told the class it was appropriate to use the term "Negro" when discussing the 1960's, a time when that was the politically correct term for African-Americans.

“I still dont understand the term Hate Crime...”
It is a term to describe laws designed to put Caucasians in jail.
crime (n.)
mid-13c., “sinfulness,” from Old French crimne (12c., Modern French crime), from Latin crimen (genitive criminis) “charge, indictment, accusation; crime, fault, offense,” perhaps from cernere “to decide, to sift” (from PIE root *krei- “to sieve,” thus “discriminate, distinguish”).
But Klein (citing Brugmann) rejects this and suggests *cri-men, which originally would have been “cry of distress” (Tucker also suggests a root in “cry” words and refers to English plaint, plaintiff, etc.). Meaning “offense punishable by law” is from late 14c. The Latin word is glossed in Old English by facen, also “deceit, fraud, treachery.” Crime wave first attested 1893, American English.

“This nation is truly lost.
Lord have mercy upon us all.”
Trouble not thy heart. It ain’t over until the AR 15 sings.
The student is a bully acting in furtherance of Obamunist tyranny.
Don’t worry; Barbie will be there to keep you company.
She says math is hard, too.
Cheers;)
If the United Negro College Fund finds no reason to change its name, there is no reason to punish the professor for discussing it as a historical term.
Following the advise of some NYC personal injury lawyer.
Liberals say they and they alone are smart, educated, rational, tolerant, LOVE.
By their own definition, expressing any other opinion is hate speech if they don’t assume you’re a stupid fool.
And daring to maintain and defend contrary views or failing to go along with their policies wrapped in the mantle of “love, peace and tolerance” is a crime. In the name of tolerance, you’re an evil hater fit for prison if you don’t go along with their fascism wrapped in fuzzy warm and lovey mantle.
The control-left is what maternal dystopia looks like, in contrast to jack boots and power and strength of the paternal dystopia, the tyrannical father archetype. The maternal dystopia is the devouring mother, setting all these rules and trapping you in dependency, out of misplaced compassion and desire to protect.
Here’s some more 60’s nostalgia.
Q:What was the newspaper headline when the first negro was launched into space?
A:”The Jig is Up.”
What I find most amusing about Obama’s racial make-up, is that he is as much White as he is Black.
His parents were (mom) White (dad, evidently) Black.
Any attempt to play him off as Black is asinine.
Maria Fernanda Martinez needs to toilet-trained out of her mental diapers.
I’m black, but I won’t comment on this. I just get yelled at.
That one never gets old. LOL at the only comment. SMH...
Fer cryin' out loud, where do these nitwits spring from?
If this is our future...then we should all just collectively sit in a warm bath and slit our wrists.
Appalling!
Isn’t ‘negro’ the Spanish word for black?
Whites are Colored People
sort of a peach shade.
My wife’s Russian, and in the Russian language, ‘chorney’ is the word for black, and it is considered highly offensive to call a black person ‘chorney’.
Surprisingly, the polite designation is ‘neeagr’.
Also not surprisingly, when she came to America I told her to be careful and not be so polite.
