On the heels of police officers shooting a young, unarmed black man to death in Sacramento, California, last month, state lawmakers announced a first-of-its-kind bill on Monday that raises the standard for when officers may open fire.
The proposed legislation would change the guidance in California’s use of force laws so that police may open fire ”‘only when necessary’ rather than ‘when reasonable,’” Sacramento-based Assemblyman Kevin McCarty (D), said at a press conference Tuesday.

I don’t know if they’ve changed the practice, but English “Bobbies” used to have no weapons aside from a simple club. And it must work pretty well because murders in London are ... ohhhhh ... well, they’re higher than NYC. But still, who needs armed police?
As it is now, in reality, cops can only shoot when “necessary” for self defense, defense of others, or to apprehend a felon fleeing from a serious felony. Liberals are chasing their tails to look good to their base.
This is bad, it is going to get cops killed.
Police Officers guarding politicians should stay home
Give them guns with timers; when they pull the trigger there’s a five second or so delay before it fires.

The hard truth is those running the corrupt CA government hate cops, white folk, America, our sovereignty, our history and our freedom. No joke.
California increasingly acts like it is a separate, nutcake country which accounts for human waste and garbage piling up in the cities, vast numbers of homeless, hordes of illegals on welfare and voting, and a myriad of other disasters. Maybe its time for the coastal strip from SFO to LAX to leave - with southern Orange County, San Diego, the North and Inland California becoming a new state, leaving the fools behind. They are going to cause a lot of damage to the rest of us, not just the police.

Wonder if they are going to assign a state funded lawyer to accompany each police officer .... going to need instant determinations that can only be made by lawyers!
Cops without guns can work well when the underlying culture is extremely law abiding, such as England before their gun-control laws, Switzerland, or Japan.
Heck, many states in the United States have murder rates about the same as England now. Vermont, Utah, New Hampshire, Hawaii, Maine.
As the underlying culture becomes more violent, guns are needed. I bought a couple dozen model 10 Smith & Wesson .38 Special revolvers that were London Police guns. They were traded in on Glocks, back in the 1990s.

LAPD has had an unwritten stand down policy for years. Show up after the fact. Take reports. Keep the K9s on shock collars.
It started with Rodney King and the loss of Daryl Gates.
And they are absolutely forbidden to ever make reference to Islam when they take reports on obvious honor killings and terrotist attacks.
Disarm the cops and not only officers will die, so will innocent citizens.
Let’s just rename California the State of Baltimore. Save everybody time and effort.
Maybe they should look beyond California to Baltimore to see what happens when you hold back a police department.
