Scientists say theyve discovered a new organ possibly the human bodys largest and it was hiding in plain sight, according to a new study.
The so-called interstitium is an interconnected system of tiny fluid-filled cavities throughout the entire body that acts as a highway for our internal water supply, study co-author Dr. Neil Theise told LiveScience.com.
The findings were published in the journal Scientific Reports Tuesday.
The human body is 60 percent water, and while two-thirds of that liquid remains inside cells, the remaining water called interstitial fluid is free to move throughout cavities inside the body.
Scientists had not previously shown that there was a unified system for moving that water, because they didnt know what they were looking at, Theise told LiveScience.com.
The interstitium exists within connective tissue, beneath the skin and surrounding several other organs and could be considered the bodys largest organ, researchers said.

Some monstrously obese people have their fat deposits as the largest organ.
Aging tissues reach water saturation much faster because the reservoir will not hold what it once did. I don’t care how much water they consume, it will not remove the wrinkles. Everything wears out as time slips past like sand through our fingers.
Or understand Congestive Heart Failure better.
The elites already have decades ago, and they work tirelessly to ensure their useful idiots never do. Why do you think they despise us so? We won't cooperate as useful idiots for them.
Scientists just discovered the lymphatic system???
Mine’s bigger.
Girthier here, truthier.
Larger than the skin that surrounds your body?

Homosexual men are inquisitive...
Curious. It wasnt new when I went to Med School 40 years ago.

Exactly right. It was not new when I went to vet school or got my PhD.
It is interesting to me that many papers are being written today on exactly the same subjects with the same conclusions are what we read and wrote 40 years ago. Then I understood when I went searching for a particular paper, those old papers are no longer available as EVERYTHING we search for must be on the internet. Unless you happen to have a library and kept those interesting old reprints. I have about 25 plus, 20+ my my own and some other interesting one.
How much knowledge has been lost ...and then I think I wonder if it has been on purpose? How easy to control whole continents of people as long as they do not have access to information that contradicts the party line.
Just a little paranoia in the mix, maybe.
I just had to laugh when I read your post.
I am so wrinkled it amazes even me. My watch band catches in a wrinkle and tweeks me a good one every so often. Sigh
Despite what they say here, I suspect this theory is still fluid.
