[ FULL TITLE ] [ Trump threatens to veto omnibus bill because it does not address DACA recipients, fully fund border wall ]

President Trump said he might veto the sweeping $1.3 trillion spending bill passed early Friday — a move that likely would lead to a government shutdown — because it does nothing to address the fate of young undocumented immigrants and does not fully fund his border wall.

In a Friday morning tweet, Trump said that those protected from deportation by the Obama-era Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program have been “totally abandoned” by Congress, and he blamed the Democrats.

On Thursday afternoon, senior Trump administration officials told reporters that Trump intended to sign the spending bill, making no mention of the president’s concern. Several aides were trying to convince the president Friday not to follow through with his threat.

Trump, who sought to cancel DACA last fall, was seeking a deal that would give Democrats protections they sought for the program's recipients in exchange for additional funding of $25 billion for his long-promised U.S.-Mexico border wall. The bill includes a minor down payment of $1.6 billion on his marquee campaign promise.

Pres. Trump needs to interpret the 11th hour, 2000+ page Omnibus spending bill, undoubtedly fully compliant with Congress’s constitutional Article I, Section 8-limited powers (sarc), as an attack not only on his expertise as a dealmaker on the peoples’ behalf, but also on his valiant efforts to drain the swamp.

The corrupt, post-17th Amendment ratification uniparty Congress is truly the enemy of the people imo.

If the bill really doesn’t fund DACA, that’s a good thing because incentives to be an illegal are far more powerful than simply just a wall.

If he does, he’s done. He will be the first president removed from office, and frankly, I will not give a damn.

Veto it, or get vetoed. Choose wisely.

Full title?

I put it at the very beginning. The full title was too long to be accepted by FR's submission page. Was that somehow unclear?

The odds are now Trump vetoes it. They are attempting to jam through bad legislation throughout it.

Trump should use all his 10 days to read it completely and then veto it to give those CONs on Capital Hill a lessen. Yeah let the Dumb Fed government to run not fully funded for awhile.

We still have alot of the state that’s still very Red. The panhandle, central florida and the Gulf Coast. Also alot of Military and Former Military here. South Florida is an issue, especially that now more young Cubans are voting Dem, plus all the Puerto Ricans that have come here since the Hurricane.

I think Chuck, Nancy, and the Democrats did too much celebrating AND Conservatives were not impressed by calling an increase in military spending a win.

Please Mr. President DO NOT let Ryan and McTurtle sell you this load of horse shit.

Threatens?

He should veto it right after giving the wastrel Congress a verbal thrashing exposing some of the more egregious measures of this monster.

If the Devil is in the fine print then omnibus bills are chapters in Satan’s bible.

..............this is a tip of the sword moment for Trump because Shutting Down these catch all graft laden Omnibus Bills was precisely WHY he was elected.

If he signs it as is it will cost him millions of votes and cement a terrible fact which is that when push comes to shove this federal government will NEVER control itself. Arguably, Trump is the only man alive with the balls to CALL the Dems and Rinos out into the street on this one!

He should send the Bill back with notes in red pen next to each ridiculous thing he wants reversed.

Kind of like a Teacher giving an assignment back to the Student with corrections.

All he has to do shove their crap right back at them.

He only needs a signature to veto - and it is law, ‘stroke of the pen kinda cool. ‘

The CONs on Capital Hill don’t have the votes to override a Trump veto. They are 4 to 5% short in the House based on the votes that passed it.

There is a tremendous amount of horrible things in the bill, not addressing the DACA silliness is not one of them.

You can't why Trump mentioned DACA? To get part of the liberal base mad at the Dems for passing this and give him another reason to veto the bill.

The bill includes a minor down payment of $1.6 billion on his marquee campaign promise.

No, it does not. That is misleading. The bill includes language that does not allow construction of NEW wall per the planned and constructed prototypes. The $1.6B is for some repairs, maintenance and extensions of some existing fence.
