TALLAHASSEE — The Florida House on Wednesday gave final approval to a bill that restricts gun sales and sets up a program to arm some teachers and other school employees. The bill is a response to the Feb. 14 mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School that left 17 students and faculty dead. The final vote was 67-50. It came after an all-day debate on the measure. Democrats favored the gun control provisions in the bill – a ban on bump stocks, an increase in the minimum age to buy a rifle from 18 to 21 and a three-day waiting period for all gun sales – but object to the “guardian” program that would arm some teachers and other school staff.

I agree and disagree. Violent offenders should have their gun rights taken away, just like law breakers (felons) should lose voting rights. There has to be law and order in a civil society and you have to be able to restrict the violent element. The problem is taking gun rights from ‘felons’, due to the definition of a felon. A felony simply means that the crime was punishable by a year or more in prison, which has nothing to do with a propensity towards violence today. It might have been a better metric decades ago.
That is the plan. Replace one SC judge who ruled that the 2nd Amendment is a personal right with a liberal and any anti-gun law they want to pass will be upheld, including confiscation.

The point is to incrementally pass more and more gun control laws until the wolves no longer fear the few armed sheep remaining.

IIRC, he and Bondi both failed to flag the Obama/Duncan/Runcie agreement with the school, so it wouldn't surprise me if he is doing some major personal ass-covering by taking rights away from law-abiding citizens. If my take is correct, he needed to be gone last week, along with Scott Israel.

A gun is like a fire extinguisher. If you need one, you need one NOW. A three day wait is unacceptable when we have an instant background check system.

There is only a short waiting period in most areas, so there is no viable data on what long waiting periods will do. I favor background checks for previous crimes and mis-behavior. All that data from other states takes long time to find out.
It’s demonstrable that the Democrats are Communists. If they had the Florida Senate, House and Governor’s Mansion, they would have enacted an OUTRIGHT BAN on semi-autos. That’s what they want. Instant felon status for anyone who has them.
And don’t give me the “that would be Civil War” line. We all know that it wouldn’t. People will blindly follow like little sheep and either turn them in, or have a “boating accident.”
Here’s the problem. If your gun is lost in a “boating accident” it isn’t doing anyone or the cause of liberty any good. It doesn’t scare the government. It doesn’t scare criminals. It isn’t there to train the next generation.
It’s lost. Just like liberty.
When you vote Communists in out of spite, that’s what you get.
I get the anger at the GOP here. I share in it. If you feel so strongly that you can’t vote for a member of the GOP who voted for this, fine, vote for the Constitution party Candidate, a Libertarian or write in a name. However, one thing that you never do, under any circumstances, is to vote for a Communist. Ever.
Bill Nelson and the Democrats want an OUTRIGHT ban and a repeal of the 2nd Amendment.
Bill Nelson will NEVER let another Gorsuch get on the Supreme Court to replace the squishy Anthony Kennedy.
Kennedy is the reason Heller and McDonald are watered down to the extent that they are. He’s the reason that we haven’t had a gun rights case make it back to the Supreme Court since.
He’s a liberal, spineless activist who cares deeply about what the Washington elite think about him.
If we replace him with a Gorsuch, we can get a lot of this nonsense thrown out.
With Bill Nelson and a Democrat Senate, that will never happen.
