about a third of all states ban discrimination based on age in places of public accommodation, and some of those statutes may well ban refusal to sell guns to 18-to-20-year-olds. ...Likewise, some cities and counties have similar ordinances (even if their states don't)

A 20 year old woman fears for her safety in her new apartment. Walks into Walmart to buy a defensive shotgun. Walmart refuses to sell to her because of her age. Women gets attacked and raped. Walmart gets sued for violation of civil rights and gets to pay and pay and pay and pay!
How's that sound Walmart?
Yes, that helped. Sometimes they were fine and moved in. It was the party life that cause me grief. Once someone is there, it’s pretty tough to remove them with our laws.
I don’t really understand why you have to be 21 to buy a handgun but 18 to buy a long gun. Doesn’t make any sense to me.
brady nonsense..
You are right, property managers should know that the percentage of trouble from tenants is (in my estimation) as high as 50%.
It’s clearly age-ism.
Age, sex, race, and religion all are federally protected categories. In exercising their rights as an FFL, gun dealers are acting as an extension of the federal government. They should be abiding by the same limits as does the federal government. Denying a firearm to an 18-year-old is as much a violation of his civil rights as denying a firearm to a Jew because of his religion.
They can but their competitors will reap the benefits....if a Stae edicts it,, then we’ll have the same situation we did when I was growing up and PA had a 21 year drinking age and NY had a 18 year age - lots of 18-20 year old boys and girls would cross state lines to be able to indulge....which put them in more danger than if they could have gotten it at home.
Two states Hawaii and Illinois have raised the minimum age to purchase a long gun to 21.
According to the Giffords Law Center, two states, Hawaii and Illinois, require a person to be 21 to purchase a long gun.
I was wondering the same. What would happen if 7-11 arbitrarily decided they werent going to sell liquor to anyone under 25?
I would like to see this all tested.
Let’s through a few more eggs in that basket:
No credit cards
No loans
No rental cars
No rental units
No hotel rooms
No home purchases
No tobacco
No vapor products
Can they refuse to sell firearms to gay couples under 21 years of age?
Parenthood age to 21, oops, my bad. You have to have a minimum age to raise the age.
Can the local Ace Hardware, Home Depot, restaurants, etc forbid someone in an open carry state, from wearing their firearm in plain sight?
As it turns out, we may have lost the 2A right decades ago and it is a matter of time when all of these little “infringements” are balled together and we wake up one day with gaping holes in the Constitution like a Nazi Germany.
Bingo!
If the left says you aren’t responsible to have a gun at <21 years old, then certainly you can’t handle voting, driving, credit, etc...
Hoggy Doody would be the most reviled kid in the country.
Ever snowflake would vote for Trump!
Private establishments reserve the right to refuse service.
Could they refuse to sell guns to African-Americans?
If a gun store can refuse to sell a gun, then a bakery can refuse to sell a cake.
Not to mention age of sex consent and age to prosecute as an adult. Just stick the 20 year olds in juvie.
