Jimmy Kimmel got choked up during his late-night monologue on Thursday night while discussing the shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida.
“Don’t you dare let anyone say it’s too soon to be talking about [gun control],” Kimmel said amid an emotional takedown of Trump’s approach to the tragedy. “Because you said it after Vegas, you said it after Sandy Hook, you say that after every one of these — eight, now — fatal school shootings we had in this country this year.
“Children are being murdered,” he declared as his voice broke. Addressing President Trump directly, he added, “Do something. We still haven’t even talked about it. You still haven’t done anything about this. Nothing. You’ve literally done nothing. Actually, you’ve done worse than nothing. You like to say this is a mental health issue, but one of your very first acts as president, Mr. Trump, was actually roll back the regulations that were designed to keep firearms out of the hands of the mentally ill.”
Nineteen-year-old Nikolas Cruz, armed with an AR-15 semi-automatic assault-style rifle, was arrested and charged with 17 counts of premeditated murder after opening fire at Stoneman Douglas. Seventeen people were killed on Wednesday and 14 others were injured.
In an address delivered from the White House, Trump said he plans to visit families in Parkland and work with “state and local leaders” to “tackle the difficult issue of mental health.”
“I agree, this is a mental health issue,” Kimmel said, “because if you don’t think we need to do something about it, you’re obviously mentally ill.”
Earlier in his monologue, the late-night host urged Americans to “tell your buddies in Congress, tell Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnell and Marco Rubio, all the family men who care so much about their communities, that what we need are laws, real laws, that do everything possible to keep assault rifles out of the hands of people who are going to shoot our kids.”
He also called on Trump again to fulfill his promise to bring common sense to the swamp on Capitol Hill. “Tell these Congressmen and lobbyists, who infest that swamp you said you were going to drain, force these allegedly Christian men and women who stuff their pockets with money from the NRA year after year after year to do something,” he said. “Now. Not later. Now.”

I might have more sympathy for Kimmel and his peers in Hollywood and elsewhere if they were to consider giving up their armed guards and fortified mansions and compounds in exchange for confiscation (which we all know will certainly not result in a safer society in any event).

Based on 2014 data from CDC.....652,639 babies were murdered legally in the US.
1,788 murdered babies per day.
1.24 murdered babies per minute.
Once upon a time we carried rifles in our pickups which we parked in the school parking lot. Nobody died.
We watched late-night TV with Johnny Carson. We talked and laughed about it at school the next day.
What’s changed, Kimmel? I mean beside the fact you’re a no-talent, ignorant piece of unfunny liberal ****?
I can’t stand him. I know he is married with children, but if I didn’t know any better, I would swear he was a girl. Long gone are the days of Johnny Carson.

The media has went scorched earth on politicizing this. Their opinion pieces disguised as news are blasted all over social media, local news, the late night shows, everywhere.
Our voices are drowned out because they have the megaphone.
The “trump made it easier for mentally ill people to get guns” is a bald faced lie.
The media won’t tell the truth, which is that Obama ordered the VA and Social Security Administration to report anyone who was receiving benefits and had a payee to help them with managing their funds to NICS so that they would be prohibited from possessing or owning a firearm under 922(g).
This move was unconstitutional and was rightly overturned. There was no adjudication process, no hearing and no due process. Just some fat incompetent government employee saying “oh you have a payee, you are incompetent you can’t have a gun.”
That’s the truth. However the truth takes a couple of paragraphs to explain and the lying press can change that into “Dur hurh, Trump gave da weapons to mentally ill school shooters, dur hurh.”
The AssPress gets to send their stories to all local papers and TV stations. So their propaganda gets shoved into your face no matter how conservative the local paper or TV station might be.
The AssPress still has the lie about the shooter being a member of a supremacist group up and has never retracted it from their local news feeds.
We have to break the stranglehold of the media.
