Injecting minute amounts of two immune-stimulating agents directly into solid tumors in mice can eliminate all traces of cancer in the animals, including distant, untreated metastases, according to a study by researchers at the Stanford University School of Medicine.
The approach works for many different types of cancers, including those that arise spontaneously, the study found.
The researchers believe the local application of very small amounts of the agents could serve as a rapid and relatively inexpensive cancer therapy that is unlikely to cause the adverse side effects often seen with bodywide immune stimulation.
"When we use these two agents together, we see the elimination of tumors all over the body," said Ronald Levy, MD, professor of oncology. "This approach bypasses the need to identify tumor-specific immune targets and doesn't require wholesale activation of the immune system or customization of a patient's immune cells."
One agent is currently already approved for use in humans; the other has been tested for human use in several unrelated clinical trials. A clinical trial was launched in January to test the effect of the treatment in patients with lymphoma.

Rotten comment. You know a federal agency funded much of this research right?
Yes, drug patents typically cost in excess of 200 million and I doubt they can afford welfare for all patients.
Problem is, they will NEVER find a cure for RATS””
Is this a bad thing for our enemy, the RAT party?
Will you volunteer? Drug development and testing never goes from mice directly to human subjects., I expect some work in at least two other species. There are species differences you know, right ?
I got the rope wrote:
“so does putting your body in ketosis.”
Does the Atkins diet do the same thing as getting an immunotherapy shot into the tumor?
hope that human trials do not drag out. I know that many late term cancer patients would be willing to take that treatment now.””
Yes, that is sad, but what you suggest is exactly what the lawyers want. Do you know what a billion dollar settlement is?
Actually, these products are also lethal to badgers, even the redneck ones.
Every lock has a key.

Good News if you’re a mouse.
Not to worry, Big Pharma will have this treatment quickly quashed by the FDA. After all, what’s a few hundred thousand healthy cancer survivors, versus billions in sales of cancer treating chemicals. Priorities, my good man, priorities! </sarc>

If *I* were dying? HELL *YES*. What the hell would I have to lose?
If I were incarcerated and a (non-lethal) guinea-pig option got time off or (no chance of fatal) some bennies while behind bars? Again, I’d have to say, “Yes!”.
Do you believe the current govt bullshit would stay in play if an epidemic, let alone a pandemic, would surface? Govt would open EVERY venue possible for direct human trials.
So, why wait for a calamity when there are plenty of WILLING participants.
But, no, we have the (illegal) all-knowing-what’s-best-for-you govt to dictate, to ‘approve’ and lord over.
Lost too many relatives to that wretched curse.
Big step in the right direction!
Full speed ahead, then. ..................................... That means 10+ years for FDA approval before they mass produce the cure.
According to the story, human trials have already begun with about a dozen paients with low grade lymphoma.
A cure for pessimism can't be too far behind...
Actually, it ain’t so much the FDA. The drug companies, and every other industry, are under threat from the lawyers and black-robed tyrants, both of which are licking their butts for the next billion dollar lawsuit. You have no idea the threats that drug companies face, it’s far worse than most people realize. The FDA has actually done a pretty fair job. If we had listened to Europe when they came out with thalidomide, the US would have 10s of thousands of seriously deformed children. Look up thalidomide babies. The FDA would not approve this drug without testing on primates.
