Chuck Grassley Memo Comes Next – Question Surrounds FBI Knowledge of Steele Shopping Dossier To ..
CONSERVATIVE TREEHOUSE ^ | 2/3/2018 | SUNDANCE

Democrats, media, and the aggregate DOJ/FBI intelligence community are finally seeing accountability. With the HPSCI memo now in the rear-view mirror, and the content in the bloodstream of the U.S. electorate, Senate Judiciary Chairman Chuck Grassley is next.

Toward the end of December, the FBI provided the Senate Judiciary Committee, Chuck Grassley, with FBI investigative documents (likely FD-302’s) from their contacts with Christopher Steele. According to most reasonable timing we can discover Steele met with FBI officials sometime around October 1st, 2016.

From the U.K. lawsuit against Christopher Steele (pdf here), Steele admits to having shopped the Clinton-Steele dossier to U.S. media outlets “in person” in late September (New York Times, WaPo, New Yorker and CNN), and mid-October, 2016 (New York Times, WaPo, and Yahoo News), per instructions from Glenn Simpson (Fusion GPS):

“We simply don’t know if the FBI knew they were supplying false information to the FISA court”

Uhhhh Comey under sworn testimony said the Dossier was Salacious and unverified. Now I fully expect if he is indicted he will say he only realized this after the fact.

“Senator John McCain provided the Steele dossier to James Comey in December of 2016”

The FBI had it long before Dec. 2016. Johnny a day late and a dollar short as usual.

There are some things you can realize after the fact, but other changing perceptions don’t work that way. I don’t see how you can think something is legitimate one day ... and then call it salacious and unverified three months later.

I agree this totally calls for a cleanup either way. The big fear of FISA (by conservatives) is that it will be used against Americans for political reasons. It wasn’t so long ago that the left feared the same thing.

Anyone who has had any serious exposure to government knows that virtually every program is eventually abused. It’s how all big bureaucracies operate. Even though FISA warrants have all sorts of “safeguards,” one can easily imagine bureaucrats turning it into a pencil whipping process, i.e. the boss wants this so I’m gonna sign off on it. A 90 day review? The old document gets a few tweaks and is resubmitted.

I don’t really know how to fix something like this, because we want an intelligence community that can stop foreign attacks against the USA, but we also want liberty for Americans. It’s a tough situation, but we should side on liberty when in doubt.

So that was the point I was making. I don’t really know what motivated Comey and others to use FISA to spy on Trump. It may have been political, but I dislike it when either political side ascribes the worst possible motives to the other side.

BTW, if any laws were broken, I definitely want to see the perpetrators charged, but so far, we aren’t hearing anything about criminal charges. The procedures were apparently followed. If Comey is asked why he signed the FISA application, he’s going to say it’s because he thought members of the Trump administration were colluding with Russia. He’s certainly not going to admit he knowingly lied, right?

Troll.
It’ll fly like a lead balloon.
Prostitutes pissing all over a bed is *inherently* salacious.
And I don’t see any hotel bills with the room date and number combined with sworn statements from the cleaning staff and forensic analysis of the urine-stained sheets.

Yes, they were spying on the Trump administration, but if they believed actual collusion with Russia was going on, they had a right to do so. They (apparently) went through the necessary steps to get the FISA warrant approved and renewed. Was it politically or otherwise motivated? We don’t know unless someone comes out and admits it.

My God but you’re pig-fornicatingly stupid.
The memo is based on hundreds of hours of testimony and over a million pages of documentstion from the IG’s office.
It wasn’t run off of Microsoft Word and left at a Kinko’s.
And sitting US Congressmen have used the word Treason with names attached.
There are over 13000 sealed indictments nationwide (mostly for RICO violations, which have no statute of limitations), and outside of DC for maximum impact on the home voters and so Congress cannot overturn the Indictments.
There is MUCH more coming and trolls like you will be forced to crawl back under rocks.

Still pushing FUD I see.

Since you were wrong about President Trump “betraying us” regarding the recent memo situation I expect your dead wrong again.

A pertinent quote: “The IC leadership thought it important, for a variety of reasons, to alert the incoming President to the existence of this material, even though it was salacious and unverified.”

News reports also say an independent FBI unit said the dossier was minimally corroborated.

My point isn’t that the intelligence community (IC) had a strong case for a FISA warrant. Based on what we know, they did not.

The left claims the IC did tip top work (great to see them finally support law enforcement). Some on the right claim this was an attempt to destroy Trump. Perhaps the truth lies somewhere in between these two extremes? That was my main point.

Not a troll and certainly not an unpolite poster who uses personal attacks against people I disagree with.

I certainly want people charged with crimes where possible, and I never said the FBI wasn’t politicized to get Trump. That’s certainly one interpretation of the memo, but it’s not the only one. I’m just not going to get all fired up over it until more comes out.

BTW, just because something is salicious and unverified, it doesn’t mean a warrant isn’t justified. That’s kind of how you verify info, right?

Let’s say a “witness” calls the cops and says he was using a friend’s computer when he noticed it had child porn on it. The cops are probably going to get a warrant to seize that computer or monitor the suspect’s network traffic, right? The claim is “unverified” until further investigative work is done.

What would be hilarious is if hundreds or even thousands of random citizens started writing fantasy dossiers and shopping them around to the media. I wonder how many we could get published. Maybe someone could get a copy to John McCain.

Pressure from the House doesn’t seem to scare anyone involved. Almost all have claimed the 5th before they even appear (if they even do appear.) Either a Special Prosecutor needs to be empowered, or a Grand Jury, or both. That would start at Justice, and hopefully Sessions will grow a pair.

I’d love to see a timeline flow chart of everything that occurred, and all involved, since May 2015. Not enough GB in most PCs to create such a document.

I’d love to believe Rosenstein is a white hat, but for it to so, Mueller would have to be one of the good guys as well. Just not buying it.

Recall that Rosenstein essentially attempted to have Trump appoint his own pseudo-Special Council by recommending, and escorting Mueller for his interview for FBI Director. Failing that, Rosenstein the very next day appoints Mueller as SC. Logic dictates that Rosenstein was determined to have Mueller investigate Trump.
