An auto mishap morphed into a defensive shooting in Rochester, Minnesota on Sunday, January 14th, a little after 8 a.m.
A car driven by 17 year old Muhammed Rahim, with another 17-year-old male and two teenage girls in the car, spun out of control and crashed into the side of the road in slippery conditions.
A car driven by 25 year old Alexander Weiss managed to avoid the out of control vehicle. He pulled to the side of the road to see if the people in the crashed vehicle needed assistance. Muhammed then backed up the crashed vehicle and hit Weiss' vehicle.
Weiss got out. So did Muhammed and the other male occupant. They approached Weiss and threatened him.
Weiss, a carry permit holder, retrieved a pistol and called the police. The confrontation escalated and Weiss shot Muhammed.
Two on one makes it a disparity of force situation. It is hard to know how this will play out in the courts. The statement of probable cause shows Weiss did not just draw and fire. Muhammed approached within inches of Weiss while the firearm was displayed.
Muhammed dared Weiss to fire. Weiss says that Muhammed attempted to grab his pistol. Muhammed's passenger said they never touched Weiss. The statements are not necessarily contradictory.
The police arrived on the scene and arrested Weiss. The police officer included the fact that Weiss had a bumper sticker on his vehicle that said GUN CONTROL IS HITTING YOUR TARGET in the statement of probable cause.

Agree. I see the Subarus with `Coexist’ and `No Nukes’ and a half-dozen other warnings that a `Child Is On Board’ (possibly driving), so none of that crap on my car.
Quite a bit once it gets into a courtroom.
A prosecutor will claim that the sticker indicates a pre determined desire to use a firearm. IOW, that the man was looking for an excuse to engage, that he had a chip on his shoulder and the sticker was intended to incite. And some juries will go for that.
Bad idea. You carry a gun and have to use it, you better be purer than Caesar's wife.
Where I live a lot of Subarus have NRA stickers on them.
Good advice. I don’t put signs in my yard either, as I lie in a heavily Democratic neighborhood.

Even an average lawyer should be able to get that thrown out.
Including the bumper sticker in the statement of probable cause shows police prejudice against the shooter.
>> ANYTHING you say can be used against you
And NOTHING you say can be used in your defense!
Lord knows I feel the same when I see the CoEXiST, HRC (I'm with Her), Ozero (2008/2012) or Bernie stickers... However, I can move on. Some people can't...
Correct.
Self-incriminating statements made to the police are evidence for the prosecution.
Self-exculpatory statements made to the police are hear-say, and inadmissible as evidence.
“Actually, I’ve heard that a properly placed leg wound can be just as lethal.
You can tell the court, “I was being merciful with an instant death rather than let the punk suffer the bleed out for forty seconds.”
Femoral artery shot would pump you dry pretty quickly.
Have had the same ticker on my dually for over 31 years.
Really? What is the first rule in any kind of conflict?
Alls Im sayin, officer, is I was in fear for and defending my life, my family, and my castle. I was aiming center mass and have no idea how many rounds I fired or why he was shot once in each knee cap, high on each shoulder, a grazing hit to his left temple and one right in his heart? I thought I was a better shot than that.
Exactly my strategy as well. Otherwise, one might find an example of liberalism left on your car when you come back from shopping at the grocery store (aka a big long key scratch down the length of your car). Yep, real tolerant those folks.
This reminds me though, I have a magnetic Trump16 bumper sticker still in my trunk. I may slap it back on for the drive home tonight, explode some heads on the Capital Beltway.
Then of course, take it right off again when I park at home for the reason stated above.
See a fender bender...Use the phone to report it...Keep on going...Mind your own business...
Bumper Stickers...
Not a good idea.
Remaining silent and minding your own business in the face of evil is not just cowardly, it's evil.
My comment stands, there ARE a bunch of pussies on this thread.
James Duane is on of my favorite people. I watch the original at least once a year
Your police detective friend is a moron.

Mine is more subtle. It’s the “1*” symbol, or, one ass-to-risk symbol. Its been adopted by police as a sort of covert “masonic handshake”. I put it on my car when I retired from the force. However, I am still prepared to shut up until counsel is present if I have to shoot.
