Any reasonable person/any d@mn fool could see that the current map will be used as illustration of Gerrymandering for generations to come.
Saying this as a redneck Republican in blue PA.
Florida is the same. The legislature might as well send crayons and a tourist map to the state supremes. This isn’t republican government. Courts used to avoid involvement in political questions.
So the Pennsylvania Congressional district map was “plainly and palpably” violating the Pennsylvania constitution for 6 years, through three Congressional elections ... and they just figured that out now? That must be some really plain and palpable Constitution they got up there in Philadelphia.
Or maybe it’s a living, breathing Constitution, and it started having shortness of breath when Trump became President.
Democrats. Do not believe they should ever, ever lose an election and they will make sure all means of obtaining victory are stacked in their favor. From objecting to voter ID to demands that district maps be redrawn to sweep up more Dem voters all the way to courts invalidating results. It is all part of the playbook. Fair elections, my Aunt Fanny.
This is mostly rural PA (Flight 93 crashed here on 9/11). There southeast area is as red as it gets (Obama said "they cling to there guns or religion" here) but the district snakes a hundred miles to the northwest to grab a chunk of Pittsburgh to still keep it Dem. It's a ridiculous district.
With the Dems concentrating themselves into small blue urban enclaves surrounded by an ocean of red, creating compact non-gerrymandered districts might not be a bad thing.
Oh, crap.
This is a biased decision from an ultraleft State Judiciary that doesn’t like the Republicans having a majority. It should easily be tossed by SCOTUS.
Partisan state courts should not be allowed to draw federal election maps. Period.
Democrats for 100 years drew the maps in NC and they were a ok with that. Now that Repubs draw them it is unconstitutional. Go figure.
“Fix your Gerrymandered map or we’ll Gerrymander it for you.” That’s essentially what they’re saying.
But its perfectly legal to do it in Colorado linking liberal Boulder with conservative Loveland located 70 miles away.
Seven beats 84 ever time! /s (I dont know how many are in the legislature)
Democrats ambushed us in an off-year election. They got a bunch of Rat judges elected to the State Supreme Court.
And THIS is the result. All part of a deliberate long-term strategy to retake the House that is working on ALL fronts.
We need to learn the lesson that the Left, quite literally, lays awake in bed every night thinking up stuff like this.
Two things in our favor are:
1) I don’t think there is time to actually redraw all the districts, black-robed edicts not withstanding.
2) I think there will be a challenge under the 14th. Amendment in that there will be a primary, then the districts will change, then a general (which effectively disenfranchises people from their primaries)
District 10 (Lou Barletta BTW) touches New Jersey and 100 miles of the border with New York and then stretches down to within about 30 miles of Maryland as ell. That ain't a shape to be proud of.
How in the Sam Hill will boundaries be decided in 2 weeks? My distrit (6th) is a traget. We need a new governor and new judges. This was shot down earlier. What constitutes egregiously unconstitutional?
The argument is subjective as hell.

The Senate Republicans top lawyer Drew Crompton said the Legislature will appeal the court ruling to the U.S. Supreme Court.
Last week, the U.S. Supreme Court halted a lower federal court ruling that ordered the North Carolina legislature to redraw its congressional map that was found unconstitutional.
Funny... how this is only unconstitutional when Republicans do it !
Not so fast! State Constitutions can be challenged if they violate the Federal/National Constitution. The Bill of Rights was used often to declare state constitutional provisions invalid; the 14th Amendment applied the Bill of Rights to the states, overriding any state constitutional restrictions on blacks voting, violations of separation of church & state, segregation, etc.
Folks, I am sure the Roberts, Gorsuch, Thomas majority will issue a stay and eventually overturn it. Let’s follow this closely - our country depends on it
