While I agree with your reasoning, it would be a great time for the MSM to throw off that albatross named Hillary, I just don't share your optimism in regard to the likes of Jim Acosta and company. For them it would be abandoning "principles" which they have defended throughout the election and the first year of the Trump Presidency. They would have to walk back the lies and the name calling they have staked their reputation, their honor upon all of this time. I think it is just too big a step for them to take.
When confronted with the lies that CNN has perpetuated in the past year Jim Acosta simply points at DJT and asserts that he is "the king of fake news". Instead of addressing errors and outright lies they deflect and make use of the false argument: "But look what he has done."
When Simpson and his lawyer are asked to present evidence of "people being murdered" over the Fusion GPS Dirty Dossier they retract their assertions and suggest they were talking in general terms but they believe that people have died. Without any evidence they give sworn testimony to a Congressional committee and then waffle when they are asked to support their testimony. As Sundance has suggested, Simpson, Jacoby and Ohr along with his unholy band of liars were probably the recipients of unedited FBI intercepts and they composed much of the dossier before it ever reached Steele for fleshing out. And I hope somebody goes to jail for this release of restricted data illegally obtained. Fusion GPS was in contact directly with some of Killary's inner circle prior to the election as has been recently released, and the use of the attorney's office to shield them was a corrupt practice to begin with. Attorney-client privilege is not a defense or shield when the whole group are involved in what was likely a criminal conspiracy against election law and abuse of national security.
I hope and dream that some day the MSM might wash their hands of these lies and deceit that the Hillary Mafia has foisted on the American people. But I doubt they will ever do it willingly, even in the face of strong evidence. The whole rotten mob have committed many crimes, only a few of which have come to the surface to date.

No doubt. They will do everything they can to create distractions from this (Hopefully?) big news. When every DemoRat on the committee votes to deny the truth to their own Congressional colleagues you know it contains uncomfortable news for them. But even if it is leaked or officially released it is not the end of the war. Even if people go to prison as has been mentioned on Hannity's show it is not the end of the war. It might be a battle won but the war will go on.
There is also no doubt in my mind that one or a few DemoRats will create a scene during the State of the Union message, leaning on "free speech" in their own House chambers as a thin justification. Just as Killary and Soros sent vocal trouble makers to Trump campaign events, disruptions will likely occur. It is the way these self-serving b*stards work so I put nothing past them as too outlandish or beyond the pale. It is what they do and they are good at it.

Wouldn’t that make for a great intro at the State of the Union if he announced that the memo is now open for public view?
And not against some unknown enemy but against fellow Americans, some guilty of the highest order, others guilty of immense ignorance and an unwillingness to see things as they are. Family against family in some cases as it were.....no glorious victory as you said, but a necessary victory none the less.

Perhaps there is an ongoing criminal investigation into it....the problem with that is by the time it gets finished......Mueller would have indicted Trump for a minor money transaction from 2008 or something...
