WASHINGTONPresident Donald Trump said Thursday that an FBI agent once involved in the special counsels Russia probe committed treason, and he called for Republican investigators in Congress to conclude their probes swiftly.
In an interview with The Wall Street Journal, Mr. Trump, unprompted, labeled as treason a text message written by Peter Strzok, an agent at the Federal Bureau of Investigation who until late July was a top investigator on the special counsels team investigating whether Russia colluded with associates...

Attorney here. Not a treason defense attorney but this is the definition of treason under the US Code:
“Whoever, owing allegiance to the United States, levies war against them or adheres to their enemies, giving them aid and comfort within the United States or elsewhere, is guilty of treason and shall suffer death, or shall be imprisoned not less than five years and fined under this title but not less than $10,000; and shall be incapable of holding any office under the United States.” c.f. 18 U.S. Code § 2381
Now, we might want to say Strzok, in giving aid and comfort to Hillary Clinton, was definitely helping an enemy of the United States, but I don’t think that what the statute means (slight sarcasm alert)
There are other serious crimes for an official of the United States Government to actively interfere in an election or to actively promote the removal of a sitting president by promulgating false information received from a foreign power and it does start to smell of treason because you are also aiding that foreign power to achieve its objective of undermining our electoral process, weakening our institutions and causing the public to lose faith in their own country.
The time it took me to include part of the post to which I was responding. :-)
The FBI has always been a rouge organization; with a lawless culture. It should be disbanded. It should never have existed. The US does not need secret police
drain the swamp
The media is lost to us.....for sure. It’s dangerous on many levels.
No. No, no, no, no, no. NO!
A Banana Republic - even under conservative control is no way to sustain democracy.
Justice must be the primary factor here. The very idea that letting Clinton, Comey et al skate so as to use this as some sort of tool to overthrow our political enemies is anathema to the Constitution and to a Free Republic.
Just No.

“...the right should be able to control all facets of control for multiple generations”
Power is in the eyes & hands of the beholders...ie in the hands of the bush, clinton and O’muslim holdovers. You know, the 97% of the fed govt ‘workforce’ that voted for Hillary. In order to use the powerful tools of the stasi state, you need to first get rid of the democrats controlling it. That’s a lot of firings. I’d rather have treason trials and hangings on the national mall.
Well, one just dared—the sitting President of the United States...
Mr. President, tell us what you really think.
I love this guy. In a hetero way of course.

Damn it must be nice to be a multimillionaire, 70 plus years old and President of the United States. Give ‘em hell President Trump! Do not give them any quarter.
Since we already live in a post-constitutional world, the essential question is to determine who controls the levers of government: us or them?
So, my question to you and others is: Would you chance forgoing our (current) dominant position in an attempt to restore what cannot be repaired? Know that if you fail, you subject you and your progeny to the boot for all eternity.
Or, do you capitalize on the (legal) foundation already established by the nation's domestic enemies, and use the full spectrum surveillance state to ensure the left doesn't regain power for multiple generations?
I say this as a general heads up, but the rational, strategic big picture conclusion shouts to let them go. So don't be surprised if prosecution is tabled. Everything the uni-party did, Trump can now do with full, unquestioned authority. However, if his DoJ pursues justice, then he/we will be hamstrung from using this force to achieve our own ends.
Unlike the left who came just short of their goal of total control, the right can learn from their mistakes and never relinquish power.
A Banana Republic - even under conservative control is no way to sustain democracy.
Uhhhh....democracy is a totalitarian manifestation, not a form of freedom. 2 wolves & a sheep deciding what’s for dinner. 2 imams and a hillary slut deciding who gets the clitorectomy. You get the picture.
We were a constitutional republic with a very LIMITED democratic process to electric our representatives. Now we’re just another banana republic.
“Democrats are LAW-LESS because Republicans are BALL-LESS!!”
Exactly, all Trump’s Twitters do not Fire Sessions!
I met the author and have an autographed copy of the first edition:
None Dare Call It Treason
John A Stormer
Absend a declared war with a defined enemy, I think treason is a pretty high bar to clear.
US Constitution, Article III, Section 3: Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying war against them, or in adhering to their enemies, giving them aid and comfort.
Use of force or advocating the use of force seems to be the key. This case may not even rise to the level of sedition.
A Treasonous betrayal? Absolutely.
Treason as defined in the USC? No. I'm afraid not.
Bingo. Without the bananas, I might add.
And while you’re at it, Mr. President charge the Media with treason as well - and hang the lot of them.
At least Sedition?
By letting them go, Trump will thereby confirm the legality of their actions. In that regard, the right will then have every tool of government power & control at their disposal.
Done right, with targeted surveillance, spying, evidence fabrication, falsely sworn warrants/affidavits, etc, you know, the whole playbook from Clinton/Hussein, the left shouldn't be able to regain power for generations, if ever.
I realize this suggestion might seem radical, but from a big picture, strategic perspective, it is much better for Trump (and us) to sacrifice revenge for power.
Not a lawyer, but I think sedition is more accurate.
Overthrowing an elected US President is treason. I don’t care what the lawyers and the media say.
