Former Minnesota congresswoman and 2012 Republican Presidential candidate Michele Bachmann said she is considering a run for Al Franken's Senate seat.
Background: Franken is officially resigning from Congress on Tuesday following a string of sexual misconduct allegations, with Minnesota's Democratic Lt. Gov. Tina Smith to take over the seat on Wednesday. Smith plans to run for the remaining two years of Franken's term in a special election in November.
Bachmann told televangelist Jim Bakker last week that she has received calls about the race and is praying on whether to return to Washington at a time when "the swamp is so toxic."
Key quote: "There's also a price you pay and the price is bigger than ever because the swamp is so toxic ... My husband and I aren't money people. And that's the thing."

True that!
“Boy...If you want to TAKE AWAY any credibility, just talk with Jim Bakker.
I’ve seen his show a few times. For just a few minutes each time.
Holy Cow, it’s like East Podunks local cable access programing.
And Jim needs to stick something in his wifes mouth to shut her up.
She never shuts up...and the stupidity she spews. “
I was vaguely aware that he was back on the air, but never saw any of his shows. Sounds like he didn’t learn a whole lot from his downfall - and apparently his second wife is pretty much the same as his first.
Yes but....... no body else will run
She is the sacrificial candidate
One can only hope she’d have a chance in that political cesspool of a state.
They’ll simply lie, like they did with Gov. Palin... AND Chief Justice Moore.
Minnesota makes Massachusetts look conservative and sane.
Coleman had the seat stolen from him in 2008, but he went full Never Trumper loony toons, so I would say “no way” to a comeback. Although I’m not a fan of his, Pawlenty might be a better bet here.
“Franken beat Coleman 9 years ago.”
Actually, he didn’t but a coupla recounts later, the seat was his.
Ya think?!?
Franken's replacement is a woman; Minnesota media will only pause from their fawning fluff pieces on her long enough to "Palinize" Bachman.
1972, though Reagan didn’t fully contest it in 1984 (though he carried 5 out of the 8 CDs) and quite probably Trump won it, especially given the fraud that’s gone on there.
I deliberately did not use the word defeated—mugged would probably be more accurate. But you make the point much more clearly.
I’m not in MN. The state isn’t conducive to electing strident Conservatives as her, unfortunately (even in her GOP district, she underperformed). In another more GOP-leaning state, she’d do better.
BZZZZT!!!!
What? She told who, what?
I don't even live in Minnesota, but I'm just walkin' away shakin' my head.
I’m not suggesting that. We must contest every seat, but we just have to be prepared to swing back hard, Trump-style, against these liars.
Norm Coleman, who preceded Franken.
I’ll betcha Odungo saw the photographer and said, “take one for my pals at “Man’s Country bath house”....
Heres my theory of messy food: Messy food always tastes good. If it didnt taste good, no one would tolerate the mess.
