Hence, if one is not committing a crime-- or does not pose an immediate threat to self and others -- people who are unable to function are thrown out into the streets to fend for themselves.
Rather than having their days managed by professionals, getting treatment, living in a clean, safe environment, they are outside in all weather, begging, scavenging and stealing. They are also spreading dysentary, cholera and hepatitis as they use the streets as latrines.
Multnomah County jail in Oregon is reportedly the largest mental health facility in the state. Hence, one does not get mental health treatment w/o getting a criminal record first.
Such is the 'compassion' of the Hard Left.

I have a public urination ticket from Denver from the mid 1990s. I was drunk and stumbling out of a bar. Took a piss in an alley behind a trash dumpster and somehow got busted by a plainclothed police officer, who I then decided to mouth off to.

The headline is grossly misleading. It is not legal to defecate and urinate on sidewalks. They lowered the penalty from a year in jail to 60 days in jail.

Was in Denver last summer. Entire downtown smelled like a toilet.
If I am passing through Denver it is okay for me to stopped and drop a load on one of their sidewalks. And then urinate on it.
I think cultural sensitivity demands concessions, and dropping a deuce on the sidewalk should be the least we can do to contribute to diversity.
I would pay every bum I saw on the street $5 to go to the City Hall and take a dump on the sidewalk in front.

Let me tell you what has happened to the most northern California county this last year...over 3000 Hmong refugees moved in to an area of only about 15,000 people..they don’t speak English, they crap on the land, refuse to install septics etc. like we natives have to and basically tell the sheriff to pound sand if he doesn’t like it. The ACLU sues the county and they can’t afford to fight them. They bought bare land in our subdivision when Calif legalized weed...just being good entrepreneurs...doncha know...so all our membership fees went up because we have to hire INTERPRETERS!
