The United Nations general assembly has delivered a stinging rebuke to Donald Trump, voting by a huge majority to reject his unilateral recognition of Jerusalem as Israels capital.
The vote came after a redoubling of threats by Nikki Haley, the US ambassador to the UN, who said that Washington would remember which countries disrespected America by voting against it.
Despite the warning, 128 members voted on Thursday in favour of the resolution supporting the long-standing international consensus that the status of Jerusalem which is claimed as a capital by both Israel and the Palestinians can only be settled as an agreed final issue in a peace deal.
Although largely symbolic, the vote in emergency session of the world body had been the focus of days of furious diplomacy by both the Trump administration and Israel, including Trumps threat to cut US funding to countries that did not back the US recognition.

The UN can sit around all day voting it means nothing
Our former Prime Minister would NEVER have abstained. But, alas, we have a prancing, pretty dork at the helm.
..perhaps a third version of the League of Nations/UN will rise out of the post-Rapture chaos—getting close...
Japan!!! The UK!!! Voted against us. Get our troops and all support out of Japan. Leave them on their own.
None of their business where we choose to put our embassy.
A great list. Just to keep it simple:
#1. UN-necessary!
Thanks as usual!
France, Germany, the UK, and a lot of others don't get any aid from us. What do we do about them?
Although it is an official statement of opinion that runs counter to one of our nation's fundamental viewpoints.
Rather than a small budget cut, how about a even 50% cut to offer a teachable moment while keeping our hand in?
See my chart above...
Tell them that after 72 years, they can defend themselves now.
And get out of NATO.
It is going to become a Muslim enclave in 35 years anyway.
Revenge is a dish best served cold.
Exactly correct! Been saying it for DECADES!!!
Could be. There must be some sort of world-ruling political beast that the Antichrist and the False Prophet will utilize.
And get out of NATO.
That's about the only response for Europe or Japan or Korea I can think of. Question is will he do it?
I give Dustbin Turd-owe credit for only abstaining and not voting against. He showed more intelligence than I expected, perhaps a 51 IQ. That would make him a moron rather than an imbecile.
FWIW, as a Canuckistanian, I would suggest that Mr. Trump, as an aid in balancing the budget, cut off all aid to countries that voted against the move.
U.K. is probably afraid of their domestic terrorist in the muslim population.
Japan? wow
Heard an (American) preacher who was a missionary to Togo. This was 25-30 years ago or so. Fantastic preacher - he also had a Togo native preach through an interpreter. Very good.
We have military bases in the UK and Germany. Who knows how much we pay to keep them there and the $ spin offs into Pounds and Euros for services/consumables purchased locally.
Bring our military home and put the men/women and resources on our borders, North and South.
With the above savings, increase our Coast Guard re boats, ships, sailors, planes, helicopters and improved coastal radar to protect our coastal areas.
