WASHINGTON — The Defense Department on Wednesday acknowledged for the first time "multiple ground operations" in Yemen, while noting that the Islamic State has doubled in size in the war-torn country, where an insurgency by Houthis rebels has allowed terrorist groups to seek haven.

"U.S. forces have conducted multiple ground operations and more than 120 strikes in 2017," said a statement from the U. S. Central Command in Tampa, Florida.

The goal is to "disrupt the ability of al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula and ISIS-Yemen to use ungoverned spaces in Yemen as a hub for terrorist recruiting, training and base of operations to export terror worldwide."

PERFECT example of OTHER people’s problems we shouldn’t be directly engaged in.

The microsecond the Saudi’s detect they have suckers willing to do the dying for them...?

They’ll hand that tar-baby off to us, more and more.

Intel and logistics? Fine.

Ground troops..? Very foolhardy.

We don’t want even larger military forces in this region.

I don’t want Saudi Arabia to expand their military. They may have to because of Iran, but I won’t see it as a great thing.

When do we get US troops on the ground in Arizona, California, Texas and New Mexico defending our border?

Who gives a rats poop about Yemen?

Know anyone who can find it on a map?

Ballistic missiles were fired from Yemen into populated areas of our ally Saudi arabia

Unless you ignored it you would know that our President got a literally royal reception in Riyadh. In effect the visit was a watershed event that changed everything in the region.

The troops in question probably include drone specialists that are killing ISIS and AQ operatives

Yemen was once a beautiful and prosperous nation.

It was also home to the Queen of Sheba.

Islamic State has doubled in size in the war-torn country, where an insurgency by Houthis rebels has allowed terrorist groups to seek haven.

This makes no sense what so ever. IS is Sunni and the Houthis are Shia, the two have been battling in Syria and the rest of the world for centuries.

But then this is NBC.

Groovy

They can fight their own wars

We ignore the ones that matter - like our country being invaded by people who make the average Houthi look urbane

It appears that ISIS is trying to get a foothold in Yemen. President Trump is keeping his word on defeating ISIS. Better to kill them over there than here on our soil. Kill them all.
