David Sweeney, National Public Radio’s (NPR) chief news editor, left the taxpayer-funded outlet Tuesday after a third female journalist accused him of inappropriate behavior.
According to NPR’s own reporting, an anonymous former NPR employee accused Sweeney of “unexpectedly kissing” her after he asked her to pull over a car they were driving on assignment 15 years ago. A second anonymous NPR journalist alleges that five years later, in 2007, Sweeney leaned in for a kiss while the two had drinks at a Washington bar.
Lauren Hodges, a current NPR editor went on the record. Hodges makes no claim Sweeney ever touched her inappropriately but gave her “unwanted attention” and “unsolicited gifts.” These gifts were given, allegedly, “in a way that made her deeply uncomfortable.”

This is getting absolutely ridiculous. I practiced law for over 40 years. Now over half of the students in law school are women but in my class in the late 70s we were 1/4 to 1/3rd. I was a trial lawyer most of the time and learned about dominance from some of the best. Sex is often a dominance game but sometimes it is just a moment in time when one person touches another or tells a joke or “comes on” to someone else. Since I grew up in a normal home with normal brothers and a great dad and have had wonderful Mr. Mercat for 48 years I was not offended by things that maybe a lot of broken damaged women would be troubled by. I’m getting pretty fed up with these whining women who wait decades and then slander someone.

I think it’s the #MeToo phenomena. All of a sudden these women who POSSIBLY HAVE BEEN HARASSED or ABUSED feel that “IT’s NOW OR NEVER” so they come out with their accusations, maybe years old, but it has been festering in their minds all this time........................
Although, I will be very skeptical if Mara Liasson claims harassment....
What about the one that said he gave her a gift in a way that made her “deeply uncomfortable”?
He gave her a gift, and he was weird or creepy about it... so that makes it sexual harassment and he should be fired for it?

I agree. If there’s a police report of an incident, or something on file with HR, it’s one thing but just rumors, or, ‘he made me feeeeeeeeeel bad’ doesn’t cut it with me, either.
I hope some of these firings go to court. If there is any dirt, I want ALL the dirt! ;)

This simply can’t be true, we have been repeatedly lectured that these people are all saintly defenders and champions of women, male feminists, and anti war-on-women heroes! How can this be? How is this possible? Please, please someone tell me this wasn’t all virtue signaling and posturing for mere political gain was it?

No kidding you go to a bar, get a little tipsy try to kiss a girl and 10 years later lose your job and career; but it will be fun pulling out a 3 page disclaimer and asking a lady to initial and sign in 10 places before you can ask her out.
