Jeff Sessions on Tuesday said there was not enough evidence to appoint a special counsel to investigate Hillary Clinton, a day after reports surfaced that the attorney general had authorized senior prosecutors at the Department of Justice to evaluate an inquiry into the Clinton Foundation.
Testifying before the House judiciary committee, Sessions also appeared to push back on Donald Trumps repeated insistence that the FBI should focus on investigating Clinton as opposed to potential collusion between his own presidential campaign and Russia.

Attorney General Jeff Sessions has taken a VERY weak position on Hillary Clinton crimes (where are E-mails & DNC server) & Intel leakers!— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) July 25, 2017
Everybody is asking why the Justice Department (and FBI) isn't looking into all of the dishonesty going on with Crooked Hillary & the Dems..— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) November 3, 2017
....People are angry. At some point the Justice Department, and the FBI, must do what is right and proper. The American public deserves it!— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) November 3, 2017
FYI....I'm one of the ones, who up until today, have been waiting for the Trump/Sessions 3D chess/long game to pan out.
Charles Ortel could give Sessions all the information he needs to indict those running the Clinton Foundation. It’s been a matter of public record for a long time. This is nothing but willful blindness on Sessions’ part.
President Trump needs to fire Sessions and hire Gregg Jarrett. Gregg has an airtight case laid out against the Clintons.
Gohmert just showed Harris on Fox News a copy of a motion to seal the Uranium One documents signed by Rosenstein in 2014 (I think it was 2014).
This proves that Rosenstein is utterly compromised. Rosenstein seems to have cowed Sessions and is de facto in charge here.
I want an out of control special counsel to have nothing but lifelong Republicans on his team to go after Hillary and all her cronies.
That’s exactly the situation facing Trump. Bunch of Democrat proesuctors with the power to go to grand juries in a 95% Democrat district.
Never should have put a senator in that position. Hes one of them.
“No special council. Good. Those get out of control.
But sessions leaves open an investigation pulling together
facts by the justice dept”
Sessions Allowed a Special Counsel to be appointment against Trump to investigate NO CRIME. Fire this worthless, corrupt, swamp scum.
Is there a path to a grand jury trial other than through a special prosecutor?
There’s almost enough evidence released in the public to convict her already!
I officially hate sessions now.
I also thought there was a ‘long game’ involved.
First, Trump could fire Sessions at any time for any reason. Sure, there’d be political fallout. But it’s his decision to leave the guy there.
Second, Sessions backed Trump fairly early on - when he was taking a political risk to do so. I didn’t view him as a Swamp Creature.
Not looking good after today.
It could be that Sessions is hedging his bet ... that he thinks that McConnell and Ryan could possibly lose the House and/or Senate and Sessions wants to remain in good stead with the Democrat-Socialists.
Appoint a special prosecutor to investigate Uranium One and Clinton complicity will be a part of it.
He should be dragged by his little elf ears out of the capital along with little Linda Graham and tossed into the Potomac. It would be a great start.
If Trump dosen’t Fire his worthless ass after Today, then Trump is useless.
This is more painful than I thought it would be. Remember all the cheering we’ve done for him on Judiciary Cmte threads over the years? One of our only voices, it seemed...
Just do what CNN and the rest of the MSMLSD do, make it up.
As of yet.....theres not enough evidence.
So sad but true. Don't swallow your tongue when saying the pledge - And justice for all.
Especially if the President's personal attorney, Jay Sekulow, has been asked for an opinion.
He’s worthless. Just like Trey Gowdy. All talk.
