Dan Rather Laments That Americans Think the Media Make Up Stories
Y: Alex Griswold November 7, 2017 5:37 pm
Former CBS journalist Dan Rather appeared on NBC "Today" on Tuesday where he lamented on the American people's lack of trust in the media.
"Theres a recent poll that said nearly half of people think the media make up stories," host Savannah Guthrie noted. "The media itself is under fire."
"What do you think the media needs to do better to enhance its own credibility?" she asked.
"We need to do a better job, we need to do our job. Our job is to bear witness, to be honest brokers of information, to be as accurate and fair as we possibly can," Rather said.
"I think most of the public understands that were under attack by very powerful people, including the president, for their own partisan, political, and ideological reasons," he concluded.
Rather infamously resigned as the anchor of "CBS Evening News" after going to air with a story only two months before the 2004 election claiming that then-candidate George W. Bush often went AWOL while serving in the Texas National Guard.

Let me fix this so it is truthful.
"I think most of the public understands that the president is under attack by very powerful people, including almost all of academia, news media, both print and televised, Hollywood, TV and other entertainment personalities, and of course, the democrats, for their own partisan, political, and ideological reasons," he concluded.
Hey Rather, howzat Officer Report on George Bush doing, b*ttwipe?
.
Dan Rather laments that the people have figured him out!
Too bad Dan, the jig is up.
.
What next? Will they get Miley Cyrus to lament female entertainers’ reputation of being sluts?
.
Rather is clearly demented.
.
CNN published three fake news stories during Trump’s trip, and he isn’t home yet.
Guess Rather does not know the frequency for “irony”.
Him speaking about accuracy in media is a sick joke.
.
When have they “reported” anything that they didn’t either make up or turn on its head?
NEVER!!!!
.
Said the guy who made up a whopper. And he got caught.
Hillary “lost her balance”
Hillary “stumbled”
I STILL see the msm say that about her collapse.
“What’s the frequency, Kenneth? “
I guess I just wasn’t paying attention, but where did the Kenneth meme come from anyways?
“Dan Rather Laments That Americans Think the Media Make Up Stories”
Now, THAT’S rich! ROTFLOL!
Ping!
Time to take another trip down to CBS in Dee Cee.
Wow... You just cannot make up stories like this!
Dan Rather complaining about lack of trust in the media!
Good evening.
“I guess I just wasnt paying attention, but where did the Kenneth meme come from anyways?”
Not a meme. Rather was beaten outside Black Rock by a person screaming, what’s the frequency Kenneth.”
There is audio, I’m not sure if there is video.
5.56mm
....
Bizarre.
But now I’m chuckling; thanks.
Oh my, another attack
The Pot calling the Kettle black
But the greatest vice I’ve ever seen
Is the Pot calling the Kettle clean.
Well, Rather IS an expert on making up fake news stories: after all, making up fake news stories was why he was fired as national news anchor.
In PA Dutch Country, there’s a word the older folks used that means about the same as cheek, or nerve, or chutzpah. My parents used it. That word is “crust”. Upon reading the headline, I instantly thought, “Dan Rather really has a lot of crust, bringing up THAT subject!
NBC Admits It Rigged Crash, Settles GM Suit
February 10, 1993
By MICHAEL PARRISH and DONALD W. NAUSSIn an extraordinary public apology, NBC said Tuesday night that it erred in staging a fiery test crash of a General Motors pickup truck for its "Dateline NBC" news program and agreed to settle a defamation suit filed by the auto maker.
"We deeply regret we included the inappropriate demonstration in our 'Dateline' report," said a statement read by NBC News co-anchors Jane Pauley and Stone Phillips Tuesday night. "We apologize to our viewers and to General Motors. We have also concluded that unscientific demonstrations should have no place in hard news stories at NBC. That's our new policy.
In its apology, NBC admitted that it had used incendiary devices to ensure that a fire would erupt if gasoline leaked from the truck being hit by a test car. The 15-minute segment was addressing critics' charges that GM's full-size pickup trucks built between 1973 and 1987 are unsafe because their gasoline tanks are on the sides of the trucks, outside the frame.
