Dan Rather Laments That Americans Think the Media Make Up Stories
Y: Alex Griswold November 7, 2017 5:37 pm
Former CBS journalist Dan Rather appeared on NBC "Today" on Tuesday where he lamented on the American people's lack of trust in the media.
"Theres a recent poll that said nearly half of people think the media make up stories," host Savannah Guthrie noted. "The media itself is under fire."
"What do you think the media needs to do better to enhance its own credibility?" she asked.
"We need to do a better job, we need to do our job. Our job is to bear witness, to be honest brokers of information, to be as accurate and fair as we possibly can," Rather said.
"I think most of the public understands that were under attack by very powerful people, including the president, for their own partisan, political, and ideological reasons," he concluded.
Rather infamously resigned as the anchor of "CBS Evening News" after going to air with a story only two months before the 2004 election claiming that then-candidate George W. Bush often went AWOL while serving in the Texas National Guard.

I noticed.
.....um Dan, I guess you forgot about your faked made-up documents regarding Dubyah. You know, you were fired and driven from CBS because of your fake news.
Are you really that senile and delusional that you don’t remember what you did?
You should troll Dan with that pic.
Nothing in the article that shows Rather says what the headline says he said.
It was Savannah Guthrie who said it.
Probably my best day ever on FR was the day Dan Rather was busted for his counterfeit documents. The posts were flying fast and furious as one fact after another came out.
No, the grandfather would be Walter Cronkite. Rather would be the father. And the whole swarm of lying rodents who call themselves "journalists" would be his offspring.
Regardless of what the Bushes have shown themselves to be, it was a great moment in history.
Dan Rather, inventor of “False but Accurate” reporting
The irony is thick.
Dan was also involved in a fake secret prisons story where the “prison commandant” was reporting not to Uncle Sam but to Dan Rather...but Dan managed to escape criticism on that, though the “commandant” got arrested by the Afghan government.
Fake but accurate?
What a Maroon.
This is a joke, right?
Agree. Nothing in text or video matches the title.
From one of the well known fabricators-in-chief.
