Well that's a let down. Looks like the corn and ethanol lobby folks did their jobs. Ruining engines a gallon at a time. And 48% of the corn crop? That's a couple bushels at least. Corn subsidies, solar subsidies, wind subsidies, electric car subsidies........ Where's my damn subsidy? LOL!

Ruining engines is a preposterous claim. The engine lives of cars and trucks is some 2-3 times greater now. Just the other day, a young woman I know had just had her dad’s truck, a gasoline engine, turning over 400k miles. Point two- the ethanol subsidy ended in 2012. Capturing sun energy by plants is far and away the most efficient—400 gallons of ethanol per plus high protein feed, plus many other corn based products. You don’t have to use it. There is gas without ethanol.

Yeah, imagine that, President Trump supports the nation’s number one industry, agribusiness.

When corn in the tank came around, farmers dropped those “healthy” vegie crops and planted it all in corn.

Well, Trump didn’t win Iowa in the Primary because he stood by the farmers and supported the corn subsidies. He did carry the farmers votes though.

Ted Cruz was honest and said they needed to end. Cruz won Iowa.

Well Trump is now President and he is standing by what he promised the farmers.

I was a Cruz supporter, but backed Trump the moment he secured the nominations.

What I like a bout Trump is he keeps his word, even if it’s for a program I am against, he is a man of his word.

Rough on old style plastic parts but engines are lasting longer than ever because designs take it into account - look at the Indy racers - engines take a serious beating like road vehicles will never see - not to mention dragsters with their Nitro Methanol. Ethanol and Methanol are a bit different but Ethanol combines with water (my biggest grievance about using it) and Methanol breaks down in water so it wouldn't be practical for regular distribution systems which all collect water in the tanks.

Would love to see it phased out but wonder why non-ethanol gas costs 15% more than the more expensive to make ethanol-laced crap.

Well, that’s messed up! Why should the grain/ethanol lobby determine what’s best for the motoring public when the best evidence should exclude ethanol? If this stuff has to be subsidized,it shouldn’t be considered. If ethanol has to compete on a level playing field with straight gasoline,I don’t think think it competes. Seems like the people pushing this crap are purposely overlooking the situations where it should NOT ever be used. Who died & made them King?
