Today's mass shooting in Sutherland Springs, Texas, was only halted after an armed Texan "engaged" the killer and put an end to the rampage, the Texas Rangers reported. Freeman Martin, a major in the Texas Rangers and a spokesman for the Texas Department of Public Safety, says the suspect dropped his rifle and fled after being confronted by a local man who had grabbed his rifle. Freeman provided a timeline of the tragedy in a press briefing Sunday evening. "At approximately 11:20 this morning a suspect was seen at a Valero gas station in Sutherland Springs, Texas," Martin said. "He was dressed in all black. That suspect crossed the street to the church, exited his vehicle and began firing at the church." "That suspect then moved to the right side of the church and then continued to fire," he continued. "That suspect entered the church and continued to fire. As he exited the church, a local resident grabbed his rifle and engaged that suspect. The suspect dropped his rifle, which was a Ruger AR assault-type rifle and fled from the church." "Our local citizen pursued the suspect at that time," Freeman went on. "A short time later as law enforcement responded that suspect right at the Wilson/Guadalupe County line crashed out and was found deceased in his vehicle. At this time we don’t know if it was a self-inflicted gunshot wound or if he was shot by the local resident. We know he’s deceased in the vehicle. "

The only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun. The shooter showed that he was truly a coward who dropped his gun and ran at the first sign of opposition.
In today’s world of journalism, reporters are told that the story MUST support the narrative.
It’s all about the narrative.
If any fact is told that interferes with the narrative, that fact remains silent—it is not said or written.
The narrative, of course, is guns are bad, and MUST be removed from the hands of the citizens. Only the state should have guns.
Facts about citizens using guns to defend themselves or save people challenge the narrative, which cannot be allowed.
Keep it mum is the modus of the journalist.

Just wish it could have happened much sooner but the perp didn’t get away and he is not going to cost the state millions in court fees and prison. Not the best ending but much better than if he got away and disappeared.

Texas Rangers didn’t stop the SS from taking JFK’s body so that the local Medical Examiner could do the autopsy of JFK’s assassination.
Somehow we need to use social media and other tools to weed these people out before they go on their rampages and kill them dead before they kill others. They are clearly willing to die for their sick cause of leftism. We need to arrange that before they manage to inflict harm.
On days like this I wish we could get the CW2 started so the trash could be taken out.
Clearly when he exited the church, he wasn’t finished. Who knows what his next stop was going to be? Maybe even a final shootout with cops, killing a few of them.
The citizen did well.
The wording of the report is ambiguous. Were there two rifles involved? Did the local man have his own rifle or did he grab the rifle the shooter was using?

Met Texas Rangers, when I was a teenager. Very respectable and respectful! “Yes, Sir.” Also saw one of their pursuit cars a few years later while visiting Texas again (mid-’70s). It was passing me at the time. It looked like a Plymouth Fury (if I remember correctly) with the inside stripped and a roll cage. Two Rangers in it. Purred like a monster. It wasn’t stock at all.
