Developing: Jerry Jones Revolts, Leads Charge to Take Down Goodell

NFL players protesting the national anthem has undoubtedly caused serious damage to the popularity of the National Football League and has also hurt the reputation of league Commissioner Roger Goodell.

In fact, the New York Post reported Sunday that Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has had enough of Goodell and is leading a charge among fellow owners to derail a pending contract extension for the commissioner.

Jones has been outspoken about how he would have handled the anthem protests differently, such as threatening to bench players who behave disrespectfully.

Aside from the obvious problem of allowing player protests during the anthem to continue unpunished while other minor infractions are routinely hammered, the owners reportedly have also taken issue with Goodell's mishandling of recent team relocations to the Los Angeles area, as well as with domestic violence committed by players.

"You don't get to have this many messes over the years like Roger has had and survive it," one unnamed owner stated during the call.

Next year is going to be really entertaining when the season ticket sales go into the tank and these instant millionaires see their paychecks!

Caller to Savage yesterday said he had been on a Redskins Season ticket waiting list for ten years until this week when he got a call from the Redskins offering him tickets for next season and incentives to take them.

Jones is the problem. Do you recall his smug look while kneeling with the protesters? He should have taken care of his team.

I haven't been watching. I didn't even watch my Rams when they were on Amazon Prime. I see Goodell as the bigger problem. I don't like Jones giving money to Planned Parenthood. I don't like Jones playing kneeling games. I DO like him trying to take Goodell out.

I have always been a Cowboys hater, but that doesn't not stop me from having respect of those Cowboys of old who happened to be gentlemen. Tom Landry and Roger Staubach fall into that category. Tex Schramm does, as well, at least by comparison.

With the idea of ending public funding of stadiums on the table the owners are in a panic. They fact is the whole country is not slobberingly devoted to watching thugs disrespect us and when transparency of how we all subsidize their glorified lifestyles becomes well publicized there could be a sea change in how pro sports conduct business.

The contract with the players union is up next year also. It’s going to just get uglier. I expect a lockout.

When they went “pink” a few years ago I began taking a hard look at what was going on. They said they were attempting to appeal to a larger fan base to support cancer research. They look like a bunch of jerks running around the field instead. Checking the political whims of potential team owners. Jumping on Tebow and running him off for kneeling. They said they did that because of team unity and he was a distraction. It was also a distraction to have team’s showing support for the coppers. All the while, the actual “games” became more the same...remove bump and run, have specialized players for certain downs, radio in calls, concussion proticols. Adjust the schedules so everyone gets a trophy. Salary caps. Expanding to 32 teams and diluting the talent. on and on. It is boring now. Then comes a threat by the players regarding their desire to push BLM. Rather than stomping that out day one and removing it from the field of play and especially the National Anthem, they fold. Between the boring play, the talent dilution, failure to keep politics off the field and changing the goal to let’s water the talent so every team can get a trophy they have made it unwatchable.

Wonder if it would have been different if Condi was Commish?

Wonder if her name has been brought up as a replacement. I'm sure Joe Biden would vote for her since she's clean and articulate /sarc.

Many Texans have hated Jones from day one. He's not done one thing to change my negative opinion of him. Let's dump BLM'er Jones first. He's let his band of pampered felons run wild for too long.

Way too little, way too late!

Decades long nfl fan, Patriots and Dallas fan but I will NEVER watch another anti-American, sjw, black racist, PC pink nfl game or spend one penny on "official" or unofficial nfl gear EVER AGAIN.

I staunchly refuse to support the nfl organization, its owners, players or managers knowing that they literally HATE ME, MY NUCLEAR FAMILY, our country our beloved flag and our national anthem.

The nfl can rot.

Which makes me really wonder who hired Lockart and why. If it wasn’t Goodell, then just firing Goodell won’t solve the problem.

Something tells me that THIS is why Goodell has been holding Jerry’s star running back Zeke Elliott’s future hostage.

IIRC the allegations against Elliott were from actions that he allegedly committed months before Elliott was in the NFL. Actions that local cops and prosecutors didn’t find conclusive enough to prosecute Elliott for at the time.

But somehow the meddling and generally incompetent Goodell thought the NFL should bring charges against Elliott anyway.
