Astros beat Yankees in ALCS, to face Dodgers in World Series

HOUSTON (KABC) -- The Dodgers will face the Astros in this year's World Series, after Houston took down the New York Yankees in Game 7 of the American League Championship Series.

The Astros' 4-0 victory Saturday sets up a World Series between one team, Los Angeles, looking to take its seventh championship title and another still yearning for its first.

The Astros have only played in one World Series previously, losing to the Chicago White Sox in 2005. For that matter, no team from Texas has ever won baseball's ultimate prize.

"This city man, they deserve this," said Houston pitcher Lance McCullers, Jr. shortly after the last inning. "This is awesome."

The Dodgers are looking forward to the matchup.

That’s what they said about the Yankees and the Red Sox.

Jose Altuve is the best player in MLB. You left that out.

Tigers fans miss him, of course, and he never showed us much in postseason play, and he didn’t have a hall of fame ERA while he was still pitching for Detroit this season, but it’s great to see him doing well, and particularly against the Skankees. :^) Hey, it’s just sports, don’t have a conniption.

Astros’ Justin Verlander named ALCS MVP after two dominant starts vs. Yankees
Thanks to two wins, a 0.56 ERA and 21 strikeouts, Verlander takes the honors

Altuve is the best player. For sure. He is the quickest runner to first base. The Astros had one of the ten best hitting seasons in history with top AVG, OPB, OPS, SLG, RBI, Runs, Hits, Doubles, and SF.

Statistically, Astros are the best hitting team since the 1972 Reds.

Dodges alone can play the Astros at the same high level of excellence.

I don’t, but any time the Bombers bomb, I like it. The DBacks still had The Big Unit (and by coincidence, he’d spent the previous season plus part of the previous as an Astro, who got him at the deadline for their playoff push. What a dominant pitcher he was.

I remember the Astros and that cartoonish uniform they wore that made the old Tampa Bay Buccaneers logo look state-of-the-art.

This is a political website, not a sports or fashion one. :-)

With that in mind, here is a link to Ron Paul wearing the cartoonish jersey in the Congressional baseball game.

Anything can happen...Houston is a great team, and Verlander will probably pitch three games.

But yeah, GO DOYERS!

One never knows. In the 1966 World Series, the Baltimore Orioles swept the LA Dodgers in 4 games. What I know about MLB in THIS day and age, you could put in a thimble. But as one wag put it some years ago, “Church ain’t over ‘til the fat lady sings.” We won’t know for sure until they play the games.

I hope it’ll be a great series, that is, that it goes seven games.

As a Dodger fan, I remember the 1955 Yankee Dodger series where the Dodgers got the Yankee curse off their back. (However they lost to the Yankees again the next year). It would have been fun to see another series between the two. Go Dodgers beat the Astros.

In baseball you get a big advantage by “sitting around” for a couple of days. It makes it easier to line up your pitching rotation with your best pitchers from Game 1 on.

Baseball will never be whole until the Dodgers return to Brooklyn.

Perhaps after California secedes?

Go ahead and rub it in. Houston deserved to win. But while you are being a bad sport keep 40/27 in mind. No team will ever come close.

Proud of my Yankees. This is just the beginning not the end. I’ve got no dog in the next round so bye bye baseball til March.
