A new law banning cat-calling and harassment of women on French streets will see men fined on the spot for lecherous and aggressive behaviour, France's women's minister said Monday.
The legislation is being piloted by 34-year-old Marlene Schiappa, a feminist and early supporter of French President Emmanuel Macron who wants to tackle sexist male attitudes in public spaces.

Laz hardest hit. See what happens when the culprits turn out to be mostly Muslims and Africans.

We’re going to go right back to square one on women’s rights, as it appears that women must continually be protected from men by men.

Let's see - instant fines.
Somebody could pretend to be a policeman that just happens to be standing nearby where there is a woman provocatively dressed who just happens to know the fake policeman.

In Chicago, we used to call it, “Holding court in the street.” But it was always a personal transaction between citizen and copper.

Back in the 50's and 60s, my dear departed Dad was a bar owner. He would not allow unescorted women in his bar.
His philosophy: "Women alone in a bar is nuthin' but trouble!"
Hard to imagine, but it was never even challenged back then.

There were taverns in Boston during the 40s and 50s that wouldn’t allow women in at all.

In Canada back in the ‘50s and early ‘60s, the two entries to a tavern or beer parlour were labelled “Gentlemen” and “Ladies and Escorts”.
