All those black women rushing to buy Dove. LOL
Dove can salvage this mess by introducing a new bar soap product named “Crow”.
How could they be so stupid
I would expect some country like Japan to do this, but Unilever in the USA? Clumsy. Two years back, Japan’s Burger King marketed a coal black cheese hamburger named the Kuro Burger. They use squid ink to color it. In the states, this may be seen as racist, although it doesn’t relate directly to any race. The burger bun and cheese are literally black-black. Darker than any coal you could dig up in Wyoming.
What stupid ad writer got that through? He or she should be fired for plain stupidity. Way back there was an ad for some soap that showed a black child being bathed with it and came out white. That was in the 20’s or 30’s - you can’t blame blacks for getting mad over stuff like this.
WTF? I can’t BELIEVE this!
Does everyone from the NFL to Proctor & Gamble to the Socialist Democrat Party have a Death Wish these days?
Have the Socialists gotten to EVERYONE? Is there THAT MUCH self-loathing out there that BILLION dollar industries are WILLINGLY taking themselves, ‘off the field’ so to speak?
I’ve got Dove deodorant in my armpits right now, Fer Pete’s Sake! Is there ANY National Brand product, from my Morning Coffee to my end-of-day SHOWER that I can still use?
WTF is WRONG with these Capitalists?!?!
Since I think Facebook is Duh Debbil, I don’t see these racist ads that get run so I don’t get offended.
But that is clearly not the original ad.
What did it look like?
I tend to give the racial “outrage police” short shrift, but even I can't explain what they were going for in this ad, other than the obvious, “a black women washing with dove will wash the black off and turn white”. I wonder how this slipped by, I'm guessing it was an ad creator with an axe to grind with the company who slipped it through knowing the controversy it would cause.
Brings to mind the Knight turning White in a commercial decades ago. IIRC, it was some bathroom cleanser.
“Stronger than dirt.”
That is so strange and unlikely that I suspect sabotage or maybe some error.
C’mon! This is funny!
How obtuse and spaced out must one be to make such a commercial these days!?
Are corporate people really this moronic?
It just confirms my opinion that a lot of ad people are on drugs, or are just not the sharpest knives in the drawer. I think I know what they wanted to do here, but wasn’t there anyone who saw it could be taken differently?
Rachel Dolezal could use this soap.
Shaking head then self deleting my comment.
I can’t imagine how this got by anyone. To me it is not even that it is racist- it is pretty darn bizarre!
How many people had to approve that ad? They should all be fired. This is 2017, not 1917.
Didn’t Joe Biden refer to Obama as “clean” in a 2008 private conversation?
