With the dust still settling, many Washington Republicans are mystifiedand alarmedby the fact that not even Donald Drain the Swamp Trump had enough populist cred to swing a primary race to his candidate in deep-red Alabama. While the GOPs class of professional strategists are generally ambivalent at best when it comes to the president, they had taken a certain comfort in believing that he was fully in command of his base. The assumption allowed them to draw conclusions about what his voters wanted, how to cater to themand how to avoid drawing their wrath.
But Alabama fully punctured the illusion that Trump was in control. For all the races idiosyncrasiesTrumps endorsement of the more establishment-friendly candidate was uncharacteristic for him, and his support often seemed conflictedit seemed to reveal that there was a limit to his supporters loyalty.

We examine the issue and then decide what we feel in our best interest.
Now it is a sign that party bosses have lost control?
Were we that biddable?
Or was that just their delusion because we were sort of walking in the same direction?
Another way of looking at it is that the base has completely lost control of its leaders.
The RINOS just keep defying the base more and more, and we just keep getting more and more energized to turn more and more of them out. But people need to realize many of them are in this together and working it. I am firmly convinced that they have McCain taking the heat because he can - he is ill and he doesn’t mind it, hating Trump like he does - but if we were to get rid of him they would “suddenly” find another “puzzling” defection that would keep Obamacare from getting repealed.
The party does NOT WANT it repealed. They are about to cut off people’s cheap opiods in FL and many other states, leaving them forced to take expensive new inefficient medicines and surgeries - and I am sure it will all be forced to be paid for under government Obamacare. I see a new layer of gravy being added to the gravy train.
Donald “drain the swamp” Trump.
Eff you Hot Air. #NeverTrump, smug pieces of crap.
We will always owe Trump a debt of gratitude for getting so many jerks to reveal their true selves.
They ain’t seen nothing yet. Republicans will fail to pass meaningful tax reform and we will tear them a new one in the primaries.
You’re missing it you dumb Republican. The populist economic nationalist movement is underway. Trump is just it’s latest helmsman.
Republicans suck sh*t. I hate the GOP. Go Trump! I am a Bannonite all the way!
While the GOPs class of professional strategists = The K Street boys.
Hooray....
My take on matters is here:

I'm pretty sure nine out of ten Republicans in Congress would be unemployed tomorrow, if the voters had their druthers.
Liars...losers...limp - wristed louts...low lifes...
These traitors-to-their-electorate deserve everything they get.
They must think we are Democrats.
not even Donald Drain the Swamp Trump had enough populist cred to swing a primary race to his candidate in deep-red AlabamaGosh, it's almost as if he didn't try very hard, and was only doing it as his part of a quid pro quo deal worked out with Mitch "Victoria's Secret" McConnell.
Hive minded liberals worship leaders, sovereign conservatives elect servants.
A clean establishment Republican probably would have beaten Moore, the stench of corruption was thick around Strange. No one shocked at the outcome but liberals and media losers.
In a representative, republican form of government, ‘leaders’ do not control their supporters, they represent them, and answer to them.
Hey tinyowl. Yes, as someone said, "Find out where the parade is headed, and get out in front of it."
Trump took an American heart that was beating faintly and made it thump strongly again. He encouraged America's lovers to exercise their political muscles. And we soon discovered it felt good to pump blood to those muscles again!
Now what Trump started has become a good habit. We are determined to overthrow the corrupt elites in Washington -- and it will happen so long is we stay on that Stairmaster machine and keep that heart pumping.
So I agree with your point: you can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink.
But what Trump's courage, words, and actions did was make us thirsty as hell! ... to return to the America we remember.
“Leaders?”
What freaken leaders?
With horse shit like Mitch & Ryan, the GOP has NO leaders, just horse shit.
