Word is, separate and apart from politics, that he was not well respected within the Department because of his hypocrisy. Price’s statements as a Congressman and his actions as a Secretary were contradictory, therefore the hypocrisy charge. At least the past two Secretaries reportedly did not make a habit of chartering airplanes for travel. And the airplane travel was supposedly far from the only example, and some of the other issues supposedly rankled employees even more. As I understand it, the dislike for him within the Department transcended politics.

All you people who have posted negative things about Tom Price should let us in on how you know anything at all about the circumstances and environment under which he worked. Tom is a close and good personal friend of mine and is completely undeserving of your vitriol. I can say no more, other than to stress how uninformed you are.
Price has been around long enough to drink the Swamp water and become infected with Swamp Fever!
It requires a very different skill set to be a leader of a large organization (especially one in need of a big turnaround), than it does to be a legislator or politician (or a doctor, like Price).
To throw a guy in his 60’s into the helm of a huge bureaucracy, with no prior experience in it, is a risky approach. There could be some cultural disconnect as well, between business people (where folks get fired when results fall short), and Government (where people don’t).
If they are going to give these jobs as a reward, or to have a media-savvy spokesman messaging on the topic, then they need to have an ass-kicking deputy, and a change strike team, to actually work the bureaucracy.
What a loser Price is. Gets a taste of power and goes beserk . They all do but since he is not a Democrat he has to resign.

True, but a tse-tse fly could be a decent Congressman, considering that they need no intellect and do no work...ever. Thus, a Congressman elevated to any job, including garbage collector, would be incompetent.

I would be most interested in your perspective if your acquaintance with Tom Price is actual. I’m not personally doubting you, but people can say anything online.
I don’t know how much you can say, but Tom always seemed like a nice guy when I would watch him interviewed and at the town hall CNN did. What happened with these private flights? I know he lambasted Pelosi for her travel. Again, he seemed like a nice guy and was one of the Trump picks that didn’t get a lot of criticism that I witnessed, so I feel bad for him in the sense that I presume that he really loved the job.
I have been a close family friend of Tom and Betty for 35 years. All I can say is that “The Swamp” is not a place for honest Christian patriots with only the welfare of American citizens at heart. It is a sad day when evil people triumph.

A really good point.
Quite a difficult thing to head a large organization effectively, that’s why it pays so well in even the most cost-cutting and ruthless industries.
Plus it’s conceivable If someone is making multi-billion dollar decisions on a daily basis, after a while a hundred thousand bucks seems trivial.

He’s not a neophyte. Been in congress a long time. Wouldn’t have done thus as a congressman. So, why would a cabinet member, a group he oversaw, think he could do this?
It’s not unreasonable to think he blew this up on purpose.
If so, why?
VERY sad really. If Sessions were still in the Senate he could be a strong candidate for Majority Leader instead of the feckless, erstwhile turtle.
