**snip**These file photos show, assistant basketball coaches Tony Bland, left, Chuck Person, center, and Lamont Richardson. The three, along with assistant coach Lamont Evans of Oklahoma State, were identified in court papers and are among 10 people facing federal charges ...
In one of the biggest crackdowns on the corrupting role of money in college basketball, 10 men including a top Adidas executive and four assistant coaches were charged Tuesday with using hundreds of thousands of dollars in bribes to influence star athletes choice of schools, shoe sponsors, agents, even tailors.
Some of the most explosive allegations appeared to involve Louisville, one of college basketballs biggest powerhouses, which is already on NCAA probation over a sex scandal.
Federal prosecutors said at least three top high school recruits were promised payments of as much as $150,000, using money supplied by Adidas, to attend two universities sponsored by the athletic shoe company. Court papers didnt name the schools but contained enough details to identify them as Louisville and Miami.

Gonna be hard to fill the dorms after this storm blows thru the gym.
Wonder if one of the defense lawyers will play the race card?
I am so glad that DOJ has cleaned up Wall Street. No fraud or bribery to see there at all anymore. An all those Hillary private e-mails that were destroyed AFTER being subpoenaed, no problem.
It’s great to know that the full might of the Federal Government is going to come down on the basketball entertainment business. It is vital to our democracy that we get to the bottom of this. Whatever resources are necessary need be spent.
Tip of the iceberg if the feds continue to dig. Surely effects football as well.
No, the question is which one will play it first. Clearly the evil white Adidas execs bamboozled and hoodwinked these innocent and trusting black men.
Looks like they’re all of African American descent. How long will it take the Jesse Hi-Jackson’s, Al Sharpton’s, Maxine Water’s, NAACP’s, etc. to come screaming “racism?”
It ain’t fair. They won’t let the coaches bribe the players. TAKE A KNEE FOR JUSTICE!
The scary part: once they find evidence that Nike was heavily involved. It could end up destroying both college basketball AND football. And a number of NBA and NFL players could end up going to jail for being involved in these bribery schemes.
How can it not?
Did Lebron struggle financially during his college years?
It’s important. The corrupt system of picking favorites that has nothing to do with their academic prowress is a fundamental cause of the destruction of higher education. It’s not small at all; students have been conditioned to accept primarily black athletes get favoritism....in Affirmative Action acceptance, in getting scholarships instead of loans, in paving their way to multi-million dollar futures.
That would be such a shame.
Any endeavor that enriches the DNC coffers should be thoroughly investigated.
LeBron, who has told us white folk that don't enable Black Supremacists in pro sports that we're uneducated about the issue, never went to college.
In 2014 he got $42 million in endorsements (source: Forbes). He's been on corporate plantations since he graduated from high school.
Lebron went to the NBA right out of high school
SC Ping?
Lamont Evans was an assistant at The USC and two of our players appear to be implicated. I have heard through other sources that neither Dozier or Thornwell signed with any of the implicated agencies.
No. LeFraud James went straight from High School. If I remember correctly he drove a Hummer during his “Senior” Year.
Yes isn’t it Grand to know what their priorities are.
