The 'slowdown' in global warming is over, the Met Office has said.
While the world remained at near-record levels of warmth in the early 2000s, analysis of rolling 15-year trends shows that the rate of warming slowed between 1999 and 2014, the experts confirmed.
But a change in the natural pattern of warm and cool phases in Pacific Ocean surface temperatures, which have an impact on global temperatures, has brought the slowdown to an end.

Awesome! A warmer planet is a wetter planet. Maybe we can start farming the Sahara.
Is this an objective forecast that can be objectively measured in 5 years?
If the lame Met Office is again wrong at that point, can they be permanently shut down?
The Met Office.
Really?
They are as credible as a hockey stick.
Pointing out that it has nothing to do with human caused inputs.
Otherwise this period would have seen exponential increases due to increased industrial activity in China and Southeast Asia in general.
More DailyMail tabloid crap.
Barley one month ago the people couldn’t predict Hurricane Irma, how in the hell are they going to predict something five years out. Let alone 80 years in the future.
La Niña coming + Pacific Decadal Oscillation dipping negative = global temps fall next year.
Met Office knows that.
Summary: “We were wrong for the past 15 years, but from now on we’re sure to be right!”
If you trace the same kooks back to the 70s and 80s they were gasping at how cold the planet was going to become.
So it isn’t only 15 years since they went postal.
It’s been more like 35-40.
If Hurricanes occur as the weather starts to cool off from Summer to Autumn, wouldn’t global warming, if it was ocurrring, prevent Hurricanes?
“The experts” have confirmed it.
Case closed!
Arghhhh!
Beware the Maunder Minimum!!!
The blank sun is a sign that the next solar minimum is approaching and there will be an increasing number of spotless days over the next few years.

Good. I can grow tomatoes longer.
Yeah they must have heard that December is right around the corner:-)
This thread sorely needs a photograph of Goebbels. Where is Oldeconomybuyer when you need him?
Is that the “slowdown that didn’t happen” that has now ended?
Um, the “natural pattern” is called El Nino.
It started in 2015, stopped in 2016, and was the most powerful El Nino ever measured during the weather satellite era.
Was the power of this El Nino related to human caused global warming? It's possible, but no way to prove it over just a few years.
Also, the last three years of “record” temperatures all fell within the margin of measurement error.
It's entirely possible the “pause” has continued for the last three years.
The superstitious sods are reading digital chicken entrails to predict the future.
Humans tend to do better in warmer climates than colder.
