Chicago Cardinal Blase Cupich has issued a decree banning guns in all parishes, schools and other facilities across the archdiocese.
The decree, effective Thursday, echoes statements the cardinal has made over the past two years in support of banning guns from churches. It stipulates that anyone found with a gun on archdiocesan property will be asked to remove it from the premises and won't be allowed to return until it's gone. Clerics and staff members also will face disciplinary action. The decree does not prevent clergy who own guns legally for hunting or sports from keeping their firearms inside a rectory, as long as the weapons are unloaded and stored in a lockbox or safe.

Note to all law abiding citizens.
All Chicago Archdiocese parishes and schools are now defenseless.
All non-law abiding citizens, please look the other way. Thank you.
I could post the rest of the article to keep from sending more clicks to the tribune site but its just more of the same mindless blather no real need to go there to read the rest of it.
will gov’t employees also be covered by the ban ?
No, read enough. Chicago churches are now officially gun free zones waiting for a terrorist attack.
So don’t be found, and if you are, just reset.
(Hope it works out better in Chicago.)
It does seem to say that if someone happens to be found with a concealed firearm they will be asked to leave and allowed back in as long as they don’t return with a firearm. Essentially a green light to CCW folks.
Yeah, and the muzzies read that too, and are thinking that all those churches are an easy target, since all the obedient good people won’t be armed.
LOL! Cupich is the cutest thang. As if his parishners are even allowed to have guns, living in Chicago.
Those who do have guns are licensed and therefore generally dis-inclined to be sitting ducks for anyone or upon anyone’s request, intending to keep the weapon on their person at all times, for protection of themselves and their sitting ducks family near by.
Cupich needs to be content with just practicing Alternate Nostril Breathing. It’s so relaxing, reports HRC.
Exactly. Criminals don’t follow Gun bans
What a tough guy! I’m sure all the Catholic grade school students who have been packing heat will be sure to leave their guns at home from now on.
What a jackass.
That may be a moot point, if they put in screening machines.
I would want anyone thinking about attacking, to think every person there had a gun.
This is most excellent news for Achmed and Hussein! *SPIT*
I suppose that would be a liberal leader’s sort of edict. I am not in his archdiocese but if I were, I’d have to choose to ignore him and protect my family with well-concealed carry and just not let anyone know.
If circumstances called for me to use my pistol - well, I’d be ready to chewed out by the Cardinal. I’d add his dressing down to the collection of those I have already.
Some day soon Cardinals, Priests, and Bishops will be sitting all alone in their churches with just each other and illegal alien children.
That must be their worst nightmare!
Oh.....wait.
“the archdiocese said in a statement, “We thought it would be prudent to issue a policy on firearms as a ‘particular law’ so there would be absolute clarity on our position.”
The policy comes amid a larger effort by the archdiocese to curb gun violence. In April, Cupich pledged $250,000 to support grass-roots anti-violence initiatives and called on parishes to invest in social services and youth programs to reduce poverty and violence throughout the city.”
This sounds like just posturing by a liberal Cardinal. I doubt Catholic school kids carry guns. But hey, this is Chicago.
I have never heard of anyone carrying a gun inside a church.
We have many gun enthusiasts in our parish. I have never seen or heard of anyone carrying a gun in church or at a religious event.
Yep, those kids will leave the guns at home. Will the nuns leave their weapons back at their convent?
