Dangerous Category 5 Hurricane Irma had a devastating impact on islands in the Caribbean.
Hurricane and Storm surge watches were issued Thursday morning for South Florida. The Florida Keys began evacuating visitors and residents, followed by flood zones in Miami and Miami Beach. Sarasota FL declared a local state of emergency Thursday morning.
Polk County FL Sheriff Grady Judd said Wednesday that law enforcement authorities would check the identities of people who turn up at shelters--and take to jail anyone found to have an active arrest warrant. If you go to a shelter for Irma and you have a warrant, well gladly escort you to the safe and secure shelter called the Polk County Jail... If you have a warrant, turn yourself in to the jail its a secure shelter. Judd also posted that sex offenders and sex predators would not be admitted to the shelters. "We cannot and we will not have innocent children in a shelter with sexual offenders & predators. Period." Judd's statements unleashed a liberal firestorm via Twitter.

lOl sorry I fish the flats a lot,LOL.!
CNN idiot just said Irma has just started making the turn and CNN is now goin live
So before now CNN was dead ?
“we always came to Florida for a week in the summer always wanted to live here...”
We came very close to buying a home in Bradenton two years ago. Now we’re pretty happy we didn’t. Sounds like renting for a few months in the winter would be the smart thing to do.
“So before now CNN was dead ?”
I refuse to watch CNN. They are drama queens and lie.
Great news!
Ah. I lived in St. Pete for a few years, late ‘80s and early ‘90s, so am a bit familiar with your area.
I was thinking of your dogs and how they’re behaving. For a few hours around the solar eclipse (we’re in the totality path), our cats were acting very weird. Animals know stuff.
Doesn’t look as if it’s made that much of a turn. Such morbid creeps.
Just for the hurricane, great humor
As a rule CNN could eff up a ball bearing with a feather
Pooper Anderson is worried about the animals
my guess is mostly the gerbils
Praying very hard for you guys in the Tampa Bay area. Very hard, every hour on the hour, on my knees.
Hope you get lucky like we and Miami did.
Godspeed.
LOL
Jackson MS ??!!??
Prayers UP !!
MacDonald used to live on Siesta Key, just south of Sarasota. He was quite familiar with all South Florida, and most of the Travis McGee series were very vivid in describing the area. Bright Orange for the Shroud used Marco Island, Naples, Everglades City, and the Ten Thousand Islands as the setting.
She is ridin the Cuba coast like a bicyclist in the bike lane of a 6 lane freeway
Yeah, and all a misunderstanding.
Key West storm surge map: http://www.cityofkeywest-fl.gov/egov/apps/document/center.egov?view=item;id=4947
for any interested.
Key West gets much less of a surge than the Upper Keys do, of course. But it can’t take much.
Renting in the summer is a very good idea alot of people do that and don’t forget hotels they do monthly rates. I didn’t know till we got down here it is a big thing and someone else does all the cleaning...
Look out Lousiana, texas
“She is ridin the Cuba coast like a bicyclist in the bike lane of a 6 lane freeway”
LOL
Irma really is having separation anxiety with Cuba.
This book is oddly similar in power and track of this storm .
McDonald wrote after watching a very ugly condo going up near his place on Siesta key beach .
This track is right along the Beach Condos in Sarasota , Bradenton , St Pete Beach and Clearwater
If it had continued due west, it’d be full inland by now.
Previous report was W-NW at 290 Heading. I expect this next report to be slightly more northward... maybe, 310-315 heading
