The U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops slammed as "reprehensible" President Trump's decision to "wind down" the program that protects immigrants brought to the country illegally as children, charging that the uncertainty as Congress is left to forge a consensus "causes unnecessary fear for DACA youth and their families."
Some 800,000 beneficiaries are covered under the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program. "While new applications for work permits will not be accepted, all existing work permits will be honored until their date of expiration up to two full years from today," President Trump said in a statement issued by the White House an hour after Attorney General Jeff Sessions announced the end of DACA. "Furthermore, applications already in the pipeline will be processed, as will renewal applications for those facing near-term expiration."
"This is a gradual process, not a sudden phase out. Permits will not begin to expire for another six months, and will remain active for up to 24 months. Thus, in effect, I am not going to just cut DACA off, but rather provide a window of opportunity for Congress to finally act."
A joint statement from USCCB President Cardinal Daniel N. DiNardo of Galveston-Houston, USCCB Vice President Archbishop José H. Gomez of Los Angeles, Chairman of the Committee on Migration Bishop Joe S. Vásquez of Austin, and Bishop Joseph J. Tyson of Yakima, chairman of the Subcommittee on Pastoral Care of Migrants, Refugees, and Travelers, said that "the Catholic Church has long watched with pride and admiration as DACA youth live out their daily lives with hope and a determination to flourish and contribute to society: continuing to work and provide for their families, continuing to serve in the military, and continuing to receive an education."

Do you ever hear these Bishops ever condemn actual Sin, as it’s clearly defined in the Bible, as “reprehensible”? They turn a blind eye to the suffering of their own priests and Church members being persecuted and murdered in the Middle East, Africa, South America and Asia (yes, this means you China) but are moral absolutists when it comes to the world’s leading democracy. I don’t think any of these clowns have looked at the Catechism since they were in the Seminary, and then only to be taught by liberal instructors not to take anything too literally.
“Render unto Caesar the things that are his.”
These guys need to read about Nehemiah - the Bible is ALL about appropriate wall building:
I know how personal this is, but I’d like to make a comment about my own experience.
I left the church after Ted kennedy was granted an annulment from a 25 year marriage. Also he was publicly pro-abortion and received communion.
Each time i have considered coming back something erupts, child molestation and cover-up, Mahoney in LA and others refusing to cooperate with the DA’s offices and the pope leaving him in office till the crisis subsided; abortionist and politicians who supported them receiving communion, and i can point to a few others.
if you like to attend church as part of your love and worship of God, there are other places to go. or you can build your own religious practice through prayer and readings and smaller groups.
best wishes and may God bless.
Two of the Four signers of the dubia are dead already, in the last two months.
Spirit Daily announces Caffara has passed. Stunning news.
How convenient or murder most foul?
I never expected perfection. i went to catholic schools for 12 years and saw a lot of imperfection. The problems I indicated are at the core of the modern church and there is a rot that has not been hollowed out.
The Constitution of the United States wisely divided and separated the powers of the federal government! A law, to be Constitutional, is legislated by the Legislative branch, and it is executed by the Executive branch.
Under Obama, DACA was implemented by skipping the Legislative step, which means it was not Constitutional.
The Trump Administration has given the full Congressional branch of the government the opportunity to right this wrong and to make DACA a legal action--if that branch, as representatives of "the People" and "the States" wish it to be.
Back up your words with actions, Congress and Senators, if you wish!
Thank you for your kind reply and prayers. Much appreciated.
I’d like to see the adjusted PCI, GDP, GNP, etc, rankings
of countries founded under protestant leaderships as
opposed to catholic leaderships. Would be interesting in
Africa with the ‘after freedom reorganizations’ and
revolutions. Cuba from catholic to commie is a catholic
chart win but a loss for cuba. Puerto Rico from Spanish
catholic to USA Protestant, we’d have to check time lines
of Commie Rat control to RINO vs. Conservative leadership.
They don't even do that.
Dear Holy Eminences,
FU very much,
Amen
They have lost their moral authority in all matters, and should worry about judgment day when each of them is called to account.
Tick-Tock..
DACA is DemoCACA! How about TACO: Trump’s Action for Child Outsiders?
These bishops are taking their stand against both Catechism and Constitution.
They are very much mistaken.
Of course, the bishops have no problem with liberal Jesuits allowing catholic colleges to support abortion/ planned parenthood....Obviously ,God loves the poor but has no problem with murdering the unborn poor babies...To hear liberal catholics talk,God is okay with some sins...God must have given liberals the right to pick which ones...
