How bad has gun violence gotten in Sacramento, Calif.? City leaders now plan to pay gang members $1.5 million for a cease-fire. Following a fatal shooting last weekend in a city park, the Sacramento city council unanimously approved a controversial program called Advance Peace in an effort to address a recent spike in violence. The program offers gang members cash stipends for graduating from school and generally staying out of trouble.

I fully expect CA government to start strafing the tax payers.
four word:
Midnight knock-out game
“The program offers gang members cash stipends for graduating from school and generally staying out of trouble.”
Rewarding criminals — that just encourages them.
What you subsidize you will get more of.
Leave it liberals to create a new government job.
If the pay isn’t good enough, then work twice as hard, and get twice the pay.
Or, don’t work at all and just threaten to do the work, and get paid for doing nothing.
Stupidity knows no bounds with liberals.
The idea will attract a lot more criminals, and Sacramento will just have to add the payoffs to their debt, sorta like the federal government “pays” for that which they can’t pay.
If you know who they are why not just feed them into a wood chipper head first?
How did that work out for Chino?
BTW, "paying gang members to keep the peace" didn't work so well for the Rolling Stones who hired the Hell's Angels for security guards at the Altamont, CA concert as some of them assaulted a band member, some of the audience, and four people were killed including one that was stabbed to death.

Did it work?
White vs. Black vs Brown vs the Irish. Sons of Anarchy territory.
“Hi. I’m here for my gang money.”
“Which gang do you belong to?”
“Uh, we’re up on the north side.”
“Do you have any weapons?”
“Yeah, we got like a piano and a guitar.”
“Wait a minute. Are you in a gang or a band?”
“No....no....we’re a gang. We need gang money.”
“How else would we know that this is a gang?”
“Well, we got colors, man.”
“Really? Like everyone wears the same color?”
“Yeah, we all wear blue....blue robes.”
“You’re a member of a church choir aren’t you?”
“So, our alto section carries switchblades. Where’s the dough?”
Real, live, no foolin’ Danegeld.
Call it what you will cowardice is always ugly.
No one learns poetry from politically incorrect white males any more.
Rudyard Kipling
Dane-Geld
A.D. 980-1016
It is always a temptation to an armed and agile nation
To call upon a neighbour and to say: —
“We invaded you last night—we are quite prepared to fight,
Unless you pay us cash to go away.”
And that is called asking for Dane-geld,
And the people who ask it explain
That you’ve only to pay ‘em the Dane-geld
And then you’ll get rid of the Dane!
It is always a temptation for a rich and lazy nation,
To puff and look important and to say: —
“Though we know we should defeat you, we have not the time to meet you.
We will therefore pay you cash to go away.”
And that is called paying the Dane-geld;
But we’ve proved it again and again,
That if once you have paid him the Dane-geld
You never get rid of the Dane.
It is wrong to put temptation in the path of any nation,
For fear they should succumb and go astray;
So when you are requested to pay up or be molested,
You will find it better policy to say: —
“We never pay any-one Dane-geld,
No matter how trifling the cost;
For the end of that game is oppression and shame,
And the nation that pays it is lost!”
wasn’t the concert peaceful after the killings?
Stupid stupid stupid.
I think he was talking about the prison there.
You get more of what you reward, not what you think you’re rewarding. In this case, they think they’re rewarding peace but what they’re actually rewarding is gang membership. More of which, they will get.
Similarly, paying the Dane-geld to China will get them to rein in their obnoxious little Nork lap dog.
