Later Friday night, police stated two employees are on administrative leave. It was not immediately clear who the second employee is.

With pay???? This nut is toast, and the nurse should sue as she has a solid case.
Then, what grounds are there to arrest a nurse for not siphoning out blood from the trucker, who laid unconscious and in critical condition?
It seems the police were hoping to see if the trucker had alcohol or drugs in his system to absolve them of their creation/instigation of the wreak.
Bastards.
This isn't the first time this Detective has had problems...
I saw the video, and it was an egregious abuse of power. He should be charged with assault.
I normally support LEO’s but this turkey not only should be fired but charged with assault.
Is this America?
Good for the nurse — who did nothing wrong.
Afterwards the city had better offer a considerable settlement payment to the nurse and concessions to the hospital.
Prayers for the trucker. Any reports on how he is doing? That ought to have been everyone’s first concer.
DOT regulations require CDL holders to submit to a drug test when they are involved in a fatal accident, regardless of the circumstances. This of course does not give a city police department the power to force some random hospital employee to get samples for them.

Agree.
This was not his first such conduct and interaction with the public.
hopefully, the second person suspended was the uniformed officer who didn’t stop the detective from going psycho
I think it was the supervisor who advised Officer Payne to arrest her.
battery at a minimum and if he moved her to a different location than it should be kidnapping also.

If so, no one told that to the nurse. How long would it have taken to bring her up to speed? Maybe a minute. This was not an emergency situation. But the cop didn’t bother to tell her what law she was supposedly breaking. Or tell her that she was liable to be arrested.
The cop just exploded.
As I understand it, the nurse wanted the cop to show a warrant; I watched an interview with the nurse, and she said your blood is your property and she must protect patients in her care. There is a procedure for this type of incident, and the cop just ignored it (again, as I understand it).
Yes, but the drug test is the responsibility of THE COMPANY, and must be administered within 2 hours of the incident for alcohol, or 32 hours in the case of drug suspicion.
It was NOT in the purview of the cop, or the hospital for that matter, to obtain the sample, period.
“But he’s got a badge”.
FEH!
