Hillary Clintons case isnt interesting enough to the public to justify releasing the FBIs files on her, the bureau said this week in rejecting an open-records request by a lawyer seeking to have the former secretary of state punished for perjury.
Ty Clevenger, the lawyer, has been trying to get Mrs. Clinton and her personal lawyers disbarred for their handling of her official emails during her time as secretary of state. Hes met with resistance among lawyers, and now his request for information from the FBIs files has been shot down.
You have not sufficiently demonstrated that the publics interest in disclosure outweighs personal privacy interests of the subject, FBI records management section chief David M. Hardy told Mr. Clevenger in a letter Monday.
It is incumbent upon the requester to provide documentation regarding the publics interest in the operations and activities of the government before records can be processed pursuant to the FOIA, Mr. Hardy wrote.
Mrs. Clinton, is the 2016 Democratic presidential nominee, former chief diplomat, former U.S. senator, and former first lady of both the U.S. and Arkansas. Her use of a secret email account to conduct government business while leading the State Department was front-page news for much of 2015 and 2016, and was so striking that the then-FBI director broke with procedure and made both a public statement and appearances before Congress to talk about the bureaus probe.
In the end, the FBI didnt recommend charges against Mrs. Clinton, concluding that while she risked national security, she was too technologically inept to know the dangers she was running, so no case could be made against her.
The FBI says it will only release records from its files if a subject consents, is dead, or is of such public interest that it overrides privacy concerns.

Wray, Sessions and Trump. These are supposed to be our guys running things.
Well the way to prove public interest is to start one of those white house partisans on the matter.
While I agree with your premise, I think you would probably agree that it’s not the public interest, but their own. To H with public interest.
But in Washington, if the WashPo isn’t interested, and the NYTimes and Hillary-Bill-Obama’s national press corpse and the liberal-democrat-socialist-communist party ain’t interested ... ain’t nobody interested in Hillary’s crimes.
Most especially nobody in the Boehner-McCain-Ryan-McConnell-Flake-Graham-party ain’t interested. Because this does not hurt Trump.
“These are not the droids you are looking for...” Oh, OK..
Not surprising, Hillary and the left get away with everything, no matter how criminal. Whereas people on the right like Arpaio, who do nothing wrong are witch hunted to no end.
....The FBI says it will only release records from its files if a subject consents, is dead, or is of such public interest that it overrides privacy concerns...
The emails were a major contributor to the Witch’s loss..
yet, the FBI says there is a lack of public interest?
At one time this would have been astounding.
So if somebody commits a crime and the FBI somehow determines that there is a “public lack of interest” in the crime they won’t be going after the perps anymore? When did WE THE PEOPLE decide on that arrangement?
You gotta be chitting me ...
Time for the sleeping Jeff Sessions to get up from his nap and go to work.
Someone give Jeff a hard shake and wake him up.
Holy cow.... something stinks to high hell.
PING!!!
President Trump needs to take a long hard look at the FBI - - well, the LEBI - - Liberal Elite Bureau of Investigation...
This is a war now. We have a few years to clean up this mess. These deep staters are resisting, but they are playing with fire. They think that the people of this country are going to sit by and let it swing back in a few years. They don’t realize that the next level will be bloody.
Intentions matter if you're a Brahmin.
Clinton must be held to account.
Charge the FBI persons as accomplices.
Sessions either gets the FBI in order or he must be fired IMMEDIATELY.
I voted for him but Trump is in over his head when it comes to choosing staff...he is sooo naive. too many Obama holdovers and too many self-absorbed generals
I’m interested.
I’m an American.
Born right here.
I’m as good an American as Hillary or anyone at the NY Times or Ryan or anyone else.
Some people would like to think that they’re more important so they can steal taxpayer’s money, but they aren’t.
They’re just dirty crooks using the American political process to cover up their crimes.
Hillary is no better than me, and I want to see what she’s done.
Trump is POTUS. He is in charge of the DOJ. He can have Sessions get anything from the FBI that he needs to protect this country. We have several months of bitching and complaining because the FBI Director was yet to be appointed. Now that Wray is there he needs to start working. Do you see the chain of command? Trump to Sessions to Wray. I don’t see this records director in any management position to usurp the three mentioned. The only way this stands is if Trump allows it. So far he has failed to fight anything with Clinton and/or Obama. What could they possibly be waiting for?
“How exactly does the FBI measure public interest ?”
Looks like we must help them understand the level public interest, no?
More unintended consequences heading their way in 10, 9, 8...
