Bears are omnivores and will gorge on berries when available - high in calories, tasty, and not nearly as much effort as chasing something with fins in cold, rushing water. This has been going on for all of the grizzly bear’s existence, it’s not some recent new behavior triggered by global warming.

Alaska salmon return from the ocean to the streams of their birth in predictable waves. In between waves there might be a slight pause when the salmon are not as plentiful. Being as they are not leftist leeches the bears just might go out and find another food source while awaiting the next wave of salmon. I once shot a black bear in Prince William Sound in September that was feeding in a stream full of spawning pink salmon. His stomach contents were a mixture of berries and salmon. I didn’t realize it at the time (early 1980’s) but that must have been due to global warming. I thought he was just doing what bears do - eating all available food sources while they were available. Geez, I need to get a Phd so I can be smart like libtards.
Because even grizzlies have social justice parents, these young uns have become vegans in order to save salmon for indigenous peoples who still are exploited by white people.

Yes! Indeed the US northwest has had a very warm summer. Here in the Upper Midwest[i.e.Minnesota], my tomato plants only developed blossoms early in July which meant the fruit is ripening in the last week of August. I picked my first tomato yesterday, the 25th day of August.

The writer doesn’t seem to understand the word “omnivore”. Bears will eat most anything. I know some people in Telluride, Colorado whose garbage bin resembles a Brinks truck to keep grizzles from scavenging their refuse. Besides, it’s well known that bears seem to crave and purposely (instinctively) eat berries and other such foods after hibernation to help them pass the “stopper” in their digestive tract that keeps them plugged during the long winter months slumbering in a den.
