The conversation about monuments — particularly which should stay and which should go — has eclipsed nearly all other conversations in the week following a rally-turned-near-riot in Charlottesville, Virginia.
CNN's Kate Bolduan spoke to liberal analyst Angela Rye on Thursday, asking her whether the uproar was truly just about the monuments.
Rye claimed that the problem ran much deeper than that:

Rye concluded her argument by asserting that America was very close to once again being a nation of slavery: “We definitely need to learn about it so that we don't repeat it, because we're very close to repeating it right now.”

She is correct about the return of slavery, though not as she suggests. This Angela Rye is projecting. The left would like to make slaves of conservatives. Firstly, they would ‘liquidate’ those conservatives who took a hard line concerning free speech, then enslave those who were less vocal.
We are already a nation of tax slaves.

I agree. With the national debt and unfunded liabilities the government has accrued, our children and grandchildren will be slaves to the government to pay it all. As of now, the fruits of our labor for four to five months out of the year is taken by the government.

In a way Rye is right.
The earning taxpayer has their earnings taken away from them under threat of law/violence for the benefit of non-earners and to the debter-ment of the earners. The egregious government debt insures that earning generations unnumbered will fall victim to this sardonic Political Correctness.
This is slavery.
What has the elite, effete and established worried is that the earners gain knowledge of the trap that they and their children are in and will revolt.
This is why they must overthrow Trump and the Constitution before November 2018. Their toast will be well charred if they don’t.
It will be best if clear lines are drawn and the sooner the better so that this inevitable fight can be done with.
She’s not entirely wrong: illegal immigrants, mostly from Mexico, comprise a very underpaid servant class here in California. The answer is to close the border and deport them.
We seem to have a modern slavery arrest here in SoCal about every year. Often some wealthy 3rd world couple sneaking in a “domestic servant” from their homeland and keeping them as a slave in their upscale suburban neighborhood. Sometimes they also get used as workers in their restaurants and other small businesses.
One time one of these imports purchased an entire apartment complex and turned the building into a workshop/barracks for the rag trade. Fenced it off from the surrounding neighborhood so that the “residents” couldn’t escape. Filled it with dozens brought into California illegally.
Forced prostitution/human trafficking is another area where modern slavery is a big factor. And again it very often has an immigration connection, legal as well as illegal.

The Confederacy wasn't a bunch of guys drinking beer and talking about guns in the garage.
They were a government and a particularly repressive one at that.
They had their own taxes and opressions and exactions and governing elite.
Income tax, wealth tax, the draft, the Home Guard, slave patrols.
There were even bans on alcohol production and sale.
