Following the bill signed into law by President Donald Trump imposing sanctions on Russia, Vladimir Putin announced the expulsion of 755 U.S. diplomats from Russia on July 30.
Trumps response to what would seem to be a hostile action on the part of Russia? Thank you.
During a question and answer session with the press pool on Thursday, Trump appeared to be serious while saying that he appreciated Putins decision to expel the diplomats as it would allow the U.S. to cut costs.
I want to thank him because were trying to cut down on payroll, Trump said. And as far as Im concerned, Im very thankful that he let go of a large number of people, because now we have a smaller payroll.
Again, Trump did not offer a hint of a smile, or anything else to indicate that he was being sarcastic as he spoke on the topic. His response appeared to be genuine.
Theres no real reason for them to go back, Trump said. So I greatly appreciate the fact that theyve been able to cut our payroll for the United States. Well save a lot of money.

Yes, it’s hilarous. So I just jab them about all the idiot things the kenyan said about Russia.
Got to love it! That's the man I voted for!
Weren’t those American diplomats the ones kicked out in response to the “Shaft Russia” Sanctions Bill Congress all but forced Trump to sign
in other news, hr mcmaster displeased, and suggests trump fly to dallas for a parade through downtown, followed by lunchtime campaign rally at the trade mart. /s
Perfect!
LOL!
Collusion at last!
I laughed out loud.
But will some Union rule or fed reg require them to be moved somewhere else
This is absolutely the best response that I believe I would not have even thought of. The Russkies have been taking it on the chin due to demonizing from the fake news and this response, I’m sure, would both smooth feelings between countries’ governments and drive our internal traitors crazy. Remember who they are.
Sorry Pres Trump but we know the careerists and contractors just go to other jobs and are not fired
Yeah, so?
Careerists, maybe. Contractors, uh, no.
My guess is we saved 755 x $100,000 plus expenses.
The thought that An unintended consequence of the Members of the Worlds Greatest Deliberative Bodies petty little cheap shot at Trump and Putin gave Trump the perfect excuse to pink slip 750 of their entrenched swamp buddies in the State Dept in one swoop , saving us over 100 million bucks a year
Most of those “employees” are Russians not US citizens from the Dept. of State!
It was a joke. Just because a diplomat was booted out of the embassy, it doesn’t mean the person lost their job. They are still a state department employee and can be assigned to any embassy around the world or somewhere in the State Dept. That number included Russian citizens working at the US embassy - now those jobs are lost and will save us money. It was a joke.
They did not lose their jobs...it was a joke.
Yeah, my response when they were removed was, why did we need that many, but Bolton pointed out today on Fox that they will all still be paid. Bummer.
You are probably low by a factor of 3.
Everything Trump says or does upsets liberals.
