A school board in Portland, Ore., has dropped “Lynch” from the names of two elementary schools, claiming it had negative connotations and made some people feel uncomfortable.
The move Wednesday evening by the Centennial School District’s board also included a slight alteration to the name of a third school.
But the move has sparked criticism, including on social media, from some community residents and former students. They claim the board’s decision is a sign of political correctness running amok.
The district had received complaints in recent years that the names of Lynch Meadows Elementary School, Lynch View Elementary School and Lynch Wood Elementary School reminded them too much of “lynch mobs” and “lynchings,” conjuring the image of people being hanged by an angry mob, KATU reported.
All three schools were named after the Lynch family, who donated land for the schools more than a century ago.

Well, if the school is named after Charles Lynch, from whom the term “lynching” is purportedly derived, I might understand that.
I recently went to an eye doctor for an evaluation prior to cataract surgery. As with all new patients, I had to fill out forms prior to my appointment. In addition to the normal name, address date of birth, etc. they wanted to know my gender. The choices on the form were: male, female, and other. I was tempted to check “other” but thought better of it. No need to antagonize the person operating on my eyes...
In other absurd news today Crayola announced it was changing the name of one of its core colors from “black” to “African American”. This was found to be outrageous by black people living in the U.K.
More evidence that the world is going utterly mad.
Just replace it with “Carlisle”.

We obviously need to remove teachers from the classrooms because they make students uncomfortable. All sports should be removed because they cause failure frustration sometimes and make competitors uncomfortable. I have a fear of what the board will do next, they make me uncomfortable, they’ve got to go. Come to think of it, I don’t like school as it takes away from my time online, makes me uncomfortable what I might miss.
Hell, this might not stop. If it wasn’t broke, don’t fix it. Life is not a promise, it’s an adventure with ups and downs. And just wait till these uncomfortable people get into the real world. Hunger makes you uncomfortable too. Sleeping in the snow is a very uncomfortable issue because you can’t hold a job and can’t pay the rent........Maybe they need to get a little more comfortable with just living.

Horse thieves were mostly white....west of the Mississippi River, lynching was instant justice for cattle rustling, robbery of any sort and mostly a white persons sentence.

I think I would steer clear of any physician who does not know that there are only 2 sexes.
